Found this article interesting because I feel like DePaul is in a similar spot with a new AD and a program that's a mess. Quite a contrast in answers from DePaul's first year AD to the one from Brennan.
Peevy clearly states why he was brought in...”to win”. I wonder what Brennan’s goal is....

Brennan has it all wrong. There are no rumors so I question why he phrased it that way. There are no rumors just dissatisfaction with the state of the bball program and that dissatisfaction is growing. There is a big difference between rumors and dissatisfaction.
Wan't there a comment on this board from saying he/she is "hearing Muller was gone" . . . isn't that the definition of a rumor?

Also, Peevy said he was brought in to "fix it" . . . Pretty sure Brennan was not brought in to do that, 'cuz I doubt Dietz thought we were that badly broken.

I don’t know if that rumor is out there or not as I’ve not seen it. If so, I stand corrected.

1.5 million does matter for ISU. Balancing a budget and paying the bills with few paying customers 1.5 mil had better matter.

Maybe there are a few rumors, but I am not sure Brennan is only addressing the one person who posted on the ISU message board they heard Muller is gone. I agree with you that it is more growing dissatisfaction. But I am also not sure that Brennan’s tweet means that there is 100 percent certainty Muller is the coach next year.

Hey everybody. Older I get the less important this all seems. Especially when you consider we lost to Loyola twice by 30....and Loyola would probably be a 15 pt underdog to Illinois. That’s how irrelevant ISU basketball has become.

so go outside. It’s the last 60-degree day for a while. Enjoy the day. Or watch Illinois and just admire real basketball for a couple hours.

Archie Miller just got canned from IU.... $10 mil buy out. He certainly won't need to rush to find a new gig. Maybe he waits a year or so... He had some great years at this level.

Also per the the statement(pulled from the ESPN Article) it sounds like the buyout came from outside donors.

Athletic director Scott Dolson released a statement confirming Miller's firing, saying that "private philanthropic funding" paid for Miller's buyout, which was more than $10 million.

Are you implying that the donor base from the 25 time Big 10 and 5 time national champion Indiana Hoosiers (Effectively the Green Bay Packers of college basketball) is some how comparable to Illinois State's donor base?

No, I'm saying the school didn't pay for the buyout, outside sources did. ISU doesn't have the money inside or out right now to cover its current buy out.

Correct, and our donors aren't nearly interested enough in the product to shell out that kind of money. Let's be honest, if they were open to throwing out 7 figures to the school, we'd have an indoor FB facility by now.

If this program hadn’t have sunk to below shit-levels, perhaps there would be enough enthusiasm from outside donors.
Losing breeds apathy and we’re well beyond apathy (aside from the maybe 20 dedicated fans on this site that’s still sorta care).

But if the program never falls to "below shit-levels," we're probably not talking about needing to drum up the money to can the coach, right?
