Fire Muller...now!

I can't see what Cali said. Frankly, don't care what he said. I can guess, tho. I'll say this, as I've said so many times, I have no problem with people expressing a desire to have Dan fired. Your opinions are your opinions. I do have a problem with every effing thread getting hijacked into a 'fire Dan' cacophony by some--usually the same group--posters. They're the vuvuzelas of basketball threads, and I hate vuvuzelas.

Celebrate Columbus Crew GIF by Major League Soccer

I miss a lot of comments on many threads, sometimes entire threads, because of all the 'foes' I've had to set up--all the vuvuzelas I've needed to silence--just so I can enjoy some reasonable discussions. I understand the desire to fire Dan. I really do. I just don't think it's going to happen this year because of COVID and a new AD.

What would really be nice is if we could have some game discussions that reflect what is happening in that game. From yesterday's game I will say that Reeves and Sissoko showed me that they're more than I've been giving them credit for being. Dan's move to ditch the zone and go m2m in the 2nd half. was nicely done. Acknowledgment of good play/effort, good passes, good moves, surprises (like Mahorcic's trey) that relate to the game at hand are not statements of approval for how the season is going. Celebrating a win is not drinking the Kool-Aid.
Oh yeah, one more thing...this title thread is actually called “Fire Dan Muller...Now”; not hi-jacked.
you
Feel free to stick to your narrative though...

You sure do post a lot on a Redbird fan forum for someone who doesn't care....
I care enough to see/want change. I’ve had enough and refuse to stay silent while this program circles the drain. 22 goddamn years is pathetic. Even a crap program will luck into the Dance once a decade.
Muller should be ashamed.

If, or when, Illinois State is seeking to hire a new Men’s Head Basketball coach, I nominate Saddi Washington.

I would be okay with Saddi if we can't get Yak. I read Saddi was responsible for the big men (Wagner and Moritz both first rounders).

I'm pretty sure the Yak ship has sailed> Coach Washington looks to have a solid resume, I especially like the time he has spent with Kampe, who doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Agreed. If you want the coach fired, we have a thread for it. But we don't need threads about players opting out or game threads devolving into what has already been said on a different thread (to a boring level).

Hold the phone ...... our Sycamores are coming to your place with a lame duck coach ...... FACT: after 10 mostly miserable years his hostage-contract (shades of Lowery at SIU) expires March 31 ..../ April 1st ..... not an April Fool Joke he should be gone.
Muller has an opportunity to win both games.

Assuming he doesn't turn it around. I dont think Muller goes anywhere until after 2021/22 season.

Washington is a good suggestion. Here are a few more to toss around. I tried to get some assistants, low-mid level head coaches and one experienced coach that was at all levels.

1. Jerrance Howard assistant at Kansas and has ties to Illinois
2. Jay McCauley Wofford
3. Wes Miller UNC Greensboro
4. Dean Oliver assistant Wisconsin - Midwest connect, ISU
5. Darris Nicholes assistant Florida - proven recruiter
6. Mark Gothried former Murray St, Alabama, NC State and current head coach California Northridge. Has won at previous places and I would think MVC upgrade to Big West.

I just don't see ISU making a change this year. Muller has a contract that expires at the end of the 2024 season. I would bet that after next season (2022) ISU either extends or goes in a different direction. No lame duck season.

I’ll take that bet.

If they lose 15 games in conference I don't see how he survives a 6 win season given the extended downtrend. But, the pandemic may save him.

There, I started it. Have at it...
Based upon Dans performance he has earned a firing. I don't know if that will happen after this season but hopefully it will be soon. Someone asked if anyone would pay to buy out his contract. The obvious answer is No. I honestly don't understand why anyone would donate to a University, especially a state school. And especially for athletics. Especially when you see what kind of coach we ended up with. I wouldn't have much confidence in the next coach. Which begs the question. Why pay them so much to begin with? Perhaps we should start a new trend. Give the coach a salary of $65,000 with a 1 million bonus for every NCAA tournament we make. Hey a $65,000 salary is damn good money. Lord knows they'll never get the 1 million dollar payout. 🤣

I cannot tell if you are being sarcastic by saying "extends" in your post. Is there anyone who believes Dan should get an extension? We are in year nine and I think I have seen all I need to see regarding his coaching prowess or lack thereof. Anything short of a historical miracle should have him packing.

Gottfried? No way. He hasn't done anything at Northridge and he did some really shady things at NC State (which he is under investigation for currently).

Besides that, It's a good list. But keep in mind AFTER this season Muller is owed around 1.62 mil. Now many on here have been saying that # doesn't matter, but it does. Look no further than what happened with WBB and Barb Smith. ISU didn't get rid of her over 250K when they should have.

I was not being sarcastic but also wasn't advocating an extension. Although I think my I was off a year, I was just trying to say, that the decision would likely be made before a lame duck year where his contract would run out.
