Interesting suggestion. Not sure Rob's resume would impress all the people he would need to impress, but he's sure paid his dues, been around some, and learned from one of the best, Bo Ryan. His record at Milwaukee was pretty decent, and his dismissal was questionable. I'd be inclined to take him.
Unless he has ISU ties, he'll never pass the smell test

Are we really going to jump immediately back onto the "lets hire a former Redbird" bandwagon? Can we please not?

Good point.

I would love a certain Gonzaga assistant that played for a National Championship and also has a dad that we may know.
Roger Power Jr would be a great choice. After negotiating a buyout, Dan could take the Porter Moser route and replace Roger Powell Jr at Gonzaga and get some additional coaching skills from Mark Few. Everyone wins!

I'll scream just as loud if we get a former Illini player as a coach.
He'd probably be able to land the Birds a game against em. Not that the program is anywhere near ready to compete with Illannoy. I don't really care where the next coach played*, just make the team better.

*Unless it's Bradley, eff that.

I'm thinking Coach Beard. He's been a top assistant for a long time. Has those Phil Jackson type qualities that players want to play for. He was part of the valley before he went to AFC Richmond. He's got direct ties to ISU. I'm sure it will be an adjustment for him, but he would be a great hire.

heard he's close to getting fired for stealing cleats and putting them in the trunk of his car.

Otherwise known as getting the boot for putting boots in the boot.

We really debating someone from Ted Lasso’s tree? I’m out on that Wichita State bloodline.

I have said it before, and I will say it again. Scott Nagy!!!

Honestly, horrible person no matter how good he might be at coaching. No thanks.

ISU would have to fully embrace being a villain. The rivalry with Bradley would kick up a few notches. Could be fun.

Would he want to come here considering where the program is now? Is ISU a step above Wright State and a big enough step at that?

I think Nagy or Powell would be excellent choices. I have never heard of Nagy being a horrible person (he did go to Champaign Centennial which is not a good thing). I personally know 2 people who have played for him (South Dakota State and Wright State) and have had very good things to say.

I expect that Powell will be a head coach somewhere next year, would be a good fit here.

Perhaps apropos of nothing, but resume building:

4 year starter EVERY game & Academic All-Everything @ alma mater
Persistence on high levels as a lead assistant to improve his craft
Resistance to leap to "TASTY" positions out of loyalty

More important
Coach saw his program through one of the most tragic eras of ISU Athletics. Maybe some of you loud-mouths need to step back and visit the fountain in front of Horton. Maybe you see Coach @ Mass whenever in town.

Keyboard critics make my stomach turn.

Am I disappointed in the W/L ledger?

Of course. But I can't think of a better leader for OUR program.
