I get jsnhbe. He's an idiot. But you're not. You post some good stuff. The Dan stuff over and over and over? I think everyone gets it by now. Really I think everyone does. Yep, Everyone.
You have little room to call anyone an idiot buddy. You continue to believe in some theory that I am a former member of the board who I believe got banned? Your view is there is no possible way for so many people to think negatively of Dan and isu that the only explanation is that the same people must have multiple accounts. Lol ... this is probably one of the longest threads in RBF history and it’s about Dan getting fired. Interesting..... I know it hurts your feelings, go drink some kool aid to cheer up with the rest of the crew.

First paragraph: Dan sucks at recruiting.
Second paragraph: Dan can't do anything with all of the high end talent he has brought in.

Pick a lane.
Actually my lane in paragraph 1 is that the current recruiting cycle, Dan is competing for guys with offers from really really bad schools. and missing on many of them. That’s how far the program has now declined under his watch. Nowhere did I reference anything about his previous recruits. Now, he’s trying desperately to get a 6-11 big man who weighs 220 and was being highly recruiting by Quincy and upper iowa. I mean come on. To your point, I do believe he is such a bad coach, he could sign a 5 star recruit and still manage to have isu playing on Thursday night.

To summarize: Dan is recruiting garbage, and he is a garbage coach. That’s my lane

Fact = Dan is coach
Fact = We have a had a couple of really bad seasons in a row
Fact = We've lost key members of our roster (DJ, Dusan, etc)
Fact = We will most likely struggle this coming season
Fact = Our recruiting efforts (even echoed by DJ) say we're in trouble
Fact = Any Board would have canned its CEO with the multiple poor results and no turnaround on horizon of the company.
Fact = Dan's only hope is he lands a whale transfer and has a miracle run
Fact = Dan has been paid over $3MM alone over the past 5 years and is gong to get another $1,5MM over the next 3 regardless. That's no chump change. So he's been paid a lot for what? One coach of the year award?
Fact = It's a message board - people are entitled to their own opinions regardless of what others think. We are on the 30+ page of this thread because of where Dan has led this program and the repercussions are on him and now with the AD who elected to keep him on

I'm not going to waste my time doing the research, but I'll bet that if we had a way back machine and rolled RBF.net back to the offseason following the 2016-17 season, a lot of posters were probably desperately afraid that we would lose Muller to another program.

I'm not questioning here that, in hindsight, the six year extension backfired and the program has reached new lows, but the complaints about the $$$ that HCDM makes are low hanging fruit when we get to look backward at 4 seasons that were not foreseeable when Muller was locked up after the 2016-17 season.

We don't get to re-write history, and I doubt that any of us would reject his salary if we were in his position; it's easy to complain from the cheap seats that he should resign or refuse his pay on some high-minded principle, but it's not a rational suggestion. 38,or 48, or 138 pages of "Muller sucks" or "Fire Dan Muller" will not change the past or present and will not cause the end of Muller's contract to arrive sooner.

we all can chose to follow Redbird Basketball, or not follow Redbird Basketball.
I don't agree. To some of us our allegiances are from birth. They're engraved into our being. You can say I'm not going to be a fan but you just are. You can go follow Duke but in your heart of hearts it's ISU you love. It's like the one that got away. I don't know maybe that's better. Right now we're drunk, abusive husband.

Edit: that would require us to hit something.

With the development of the NBA’s African league (combined with this transfer portal crap), college basketball is one step closer to being gone as we know it.
In the case of ISU’s men’s hoops, I’d consider the death of college basketball as a mercy killing.

College basketball won’t die, but it’s going to change. I think college football is more likely to pull out of the ncaa than basketball. There is too much money being made off the ncaa basketball tournament.

We will all be dead (and Muller probably on year 30) by the time ISU makes is again.

Jamar, I would never call you an idiot. I wasn't even thinking about you. So maybe I do have room? I'll have to think about that one. Anyway, you never crossed my mind. I don't read anything you post. If you didn't quote me I wouldn't have even seen this. That's the one flaw with the awesome ignore feature. Feel free to use it on me. That way we can ignore each other!(y)

That is easy to say but short sighted. How about people like me who grew up in Bloomington and have been life long fans ? I've seen many ups and downs with this program but remained interested in the product. Not only a fan of college basketball, but glad locals had an affordable entertainment option in town. Dan's run as coach has been disappointing to say the least. The program produces bad basketball and a poor entertainment value. Being forced to watch is realy not the point. Expressing disappointment from several perspectives is the point. Fan boards are for such things. It seems senseless to use it to be a wise guy or slam someone's opinion. Anyway, I'll keep rooting for the program and hoping for better management and performance.

Agree 100 percent. You invest your life into the program and now we are supposed to just go be a fan of another team because Muller is a complete disaster of a coach?

The product on the floor is bad, the athletic marketing, game promotion and in game experience has gotten worse the last few years.

At what point does someone at ISU fix this mess? It seems like as long as the Kool aid krew and some boosters are kept happy that’s all that matters.

It's obvious they don't care about winning. They may be ok with a win- but they could care less if ISU makes the dance. They at least get to cheer on the Valley in the Tournament. I love baseball...but I don't have time to cheer on more than one team- or would I care too.

I kind of disagree here.
I think everyone on this Redbird forum want the Redbirds to win, and be successful.
The biggest issue here is that some get upset with the constant beating of the drum for Muller to be gone.
I want him gone and I understand that I can be a Chatty-Cathy doll when it comes to Muller being gone. I just want some goddamn respect back for this program and to be able to wear my ISU gear with pride once again.
Bottom line, it’s a message board...a place to both vent and share successes.

So you do agree that Dan can take us to the tourney!

1998.........I am assuming you have been a fan like most of us before this date and until now. So by this logic you don't care either. Have you been banging on the ADs door for 24 years? The last few years have sucked, I 100% agree on that but we have had some great seasons between 98 and now without a tourney game. Six or seven years ago I don't think anyone was yelling how the program sucked and to fire Dan. I agree the new AD needs to fire Dan at this point and start fresh. Many people have given good examples of new Coaches turning a program around quickly. I doubt any of us on this message board have actually been part of any real conversations with the ISU admin and what they plan of doing going forward with the bball team.

Actually there have been some real conversations with the Athletic Dept. regarding the current head coach. The dept. does read this site, whether they care to admit it or not. The next logical step is to reach out to the "powers to be" and voice your displeasure with the current state of affairs regarding our program. They have been receptive and they will listen.

I have to disagree a bit. It’s true that Administration will look seriously at you and nod their head. But are they ‘listening’? I don’t think so. They know the mens basketball program is a shambles; but to start fixing it takes courage. That’s something bureaucrats don’t have. The athletic programs just aren’t that important to them.
