Assuming he doesn't turn it around. I dont think Muller goes anywhere until after 2021/22 season.

Washington is a good suggestion. Here are a few more to toss around. I tried to get some assistants, low-mid level head coaches and one experienced coach that was at all levels.

1. Jerrance Howard assistant at Kansas and has ties to Illinois
2. Jay McCauley Wofford
3. Wes Miller UNC Greensboro
4. Dean Oliver assistant Wisconsin - Midwest connect, ISU
5. Darris Nicholes assistant Florida - proven recruiter
6. Mark Gothried former Murray St, Alabama, NC State and current head coach California Northridge. Has won at previous places and I would think MVC upgrade to Big West.
I said it last year, and will again this year. Scott Nagy applied when Muller was hired. He has ties to Illinois. And seems to be very competitive wherever he goes. He kicked our ass when he was at SD St and we were loaded. I am in the Nagy corner.

Nagy had a six year dip during the middle of his SDSU days (some of that was during/due to the Division II to I transition). Not saying Muller is actually on the same bell curve trajectory, but it does show that even respected coaches can run into dry spells and adjust accordingly. I honestly thought Nagy was going to be a lifer with the Jackrabbits. His programs are generally solid and stable.

Gottfried? No way. He hasn't done anything at Northridge and he did some really shady things at NC State (which he is under investigation for currently).

Besides that, It's a good list. But keep in mind AFTER this season Muller is owed around 1.62 mil. Now many on here have been saying that # doesn't matter, but it does. Look no further than what happened with WBB and Barb Smith. ISU didn't get rid of her over 250K when they should have.
The main difference here...WBB has zero visibility. In other words, a hot mess of a team doesn’t even register on the radar. Conversely a successful WBB program does nothing either.

Okay but where is the 1.6 million gonna come from? Because your paying that out and your also paying for a new staff too. No revenue coming in from basketball tickets or football buy games either.

And lastly for you and others who have been most outspoken about firing him, how much are you putting up?

I keep hearing that there are donors / fans out there to make this happen too. This isn’t 650K to buyout Moser either. 1.6 mil.

And I’m not saying he shouldn’t be gone but the $$$ is a big deal.

Even-handed response. I also think Dan's situation is further complicated by seniors getting an additional "free" season. The "veteran" teams can only get deeper. We only have one who may/not return given that he opted out this year for family and may decide to start his post-college life (whatever that entails).

I told a fundraiser that I’ll donate to the university again once Muller is fired. I don’t know how much more I can do than that?
If there was a fund that was directly geared towards buying out his contract, I’d donate.
As I said in a previous post, not buying out Muller’s contract is short-sighted in the sense that you’re overlooking the financial benefits of a competitive program; including increased enrollment, increased ticket sales, increased concession sales, TV contracts, etc.

Wasn't the first year on the contract 2017-18? I think we would owe 1.2mm after this year and 600k after 2021-22 season which when I indicated

Runs through 23/24. 3 more years. But, I believe the buyout is 500k per year so I think it's actually 1.5m not full 1.62m...not that 120k really matters at that point.

The program needs a reset. ISU made an emotional decision to pay Dan too much money based on 1 lucky year and terrible tragedy that allowed the heart to decide who is the best coach for ISU over the mind.

We are a basketball program with ZERO identity after what, seven years? I never know what type of offense or defense I am going to see night in and night out. NCAA Tournament or Dan is out. It has to be that simple. Dan's success was tied to his assistant coaches, mainly Yalich.

We were pretty fortunate to have Dean Oliver as well.

I remember how I couldn’t have been more excited when we hired him. I thought he would be the perfect fit.
I also remember how proud I was when he sent that text challenging P5’s after we were snubbed by the NCAA.
I wish him well, but it’s seriously time for a change.
