Color me unimpressed. It makes very little sense. Wouldn't we want to expand in the midwestish? Maybe look at UIC, Belmont, etc. Consider the increased travel costs for the conference. Hard pass.
The no brainer expansion teams are Belmont and Murray State. You keep the private vs public and they are regional. I would consider UIC as well. Give Loyola an in-town rival and I do believe Coach Yak is going some great things there.

The only positive of UTA would The Valley getting into the DFW market.

So does this thread win the award for longest dormant thread (3 1/2 years) to make a comeback?

Read something about Loyola moving to the Big East ..All Catholic League.. Makes sense to level up for the NCAA Tourney with all the changes that are coming down the pike concerning Men's Basketball.

Uconn is a public non-demoninational but the rest, yes. Plus DePaul would never let em. That would open the door for Dayton...and they should butthey won't. That's why st Louis is hanging on because loyola and Dayton are blocked.

Butler isn’t Catholic, either. Was founded by Disciples of Christ, though has never been run by the DoC. It’s non-sectarian.

Is UTA really that desperate? If so, I feel for them

God I wish we could tempt Tulsa, W Kentucky, Memphis, Northern Illinois, Ball State and Arkansas State to join the Valley and have 16 team mega conference (8 on each side). Then you have ILState, Missouri State, NIowa and SIU jump up for MVC FBS football front and have WIU, Butler, Drake, SDakota, SD State, ND State, NDakota, Indy State, Valpo and Minnesota State be the MVC FCS. The MVC would also have a very nice baseball and soccer conferences as well.

Well, if were doing fake conferences Illinois State needs to spearhead realignment as their only way to be accepted into a good conference is by convincing some teams to come back to the Midwest from the East Coast by creating a centrally located conference with a lot less travel for most teams (or go FBS but that requires a bigger football stadium)

New conference

Belmont (No way they wouldn't join this group)
Butler
Creighton
Dayton
Illinois State
Loyola-Chicago (yes, over DePaul...who made another bad hire)
Marquette
St. Louis
Wichita State
Xavier

Then the MVC should expand into an 18 team super conference with the MVC and MVFC finally merging (somewhat screw the footprint for media markets and forget about public/private splits for the future of the conference)

MVC Basketball

East

Bradley
Evansville
Illinois-Chicago
Indiana State
James Madison (DC market which is huge and they have amazing football and just won the FCS Championship, I believe. Figured they could get two East Coast teams if they also went out of their footprint to get GCU and UTA)
Missouri State
Murray State
Southern Illinois
VCU

West

Drake
Grand Canyon (stop worrying about for-profit and worry about the future of the conference. Plus, they're trying to go back to non-profit)
North Dakota
North Dakota State
Northern Iowa
South Dakota
South Dakota State
St. Thomas (up-and-coming transitioning Minneapolis school that was kicked out of their conference for being too good at football)
Texas-Arlington

MVC Football (11 teams. Honestly, I think Indiana State or Murray State will cease football eventually...or NDSU moves up)

Indiana State
James Madison
Missouri State
Murray State
North Dakota
North Dakota State
Northern Iowa
South Dakota
South Dakota State
Southern Illinois
St. Thomas

Imagine adding the Phoenix (11), DC (7), and Dallas/Fort Worth (5) media markets!

Illinois State football could still play in the MVC as an associate member for the time being to keep an even amount of teams if the MVC isn't mad and allows them.

Okay, fantasy over.

Next time, try and put some thought into this, will ya?

WEST DIVISION

Drake

Missouri State

Kansas

Oregon

Gonzaga

UCLA

Interesting that MoVal looking at expansion. UTA way down there. I am not sure ISUBlue can afford the travel.

If anyone wants a good read head on over to the Shockers message board and read their thoughts on expansion in the happenings around the AAC thread. A mix of panic and delusion.

Perhaps a link would help? I like reading panic and the illogical ramblings. I went to shockernet and spent 30 seconds looking and then left.

The B12 announced that Houston, Cincinnati, and UCF from the AAC have applied for membership. BYU has also applied. This is more than likely a done deal and the applications are the formality.

Rumored is the B12 wanted to get 8 expansion teams. But the B12 will have to wait until Oklahoma and Texas leave. So another 4 candidates may be coming in. Memphis could be in that next mix of 4. With UH, UC, UCF, and potentially either one or all of UM, SMU, and USF gone, then what is left of the AAC and future media/streaming contracts? UM more so than SMU or USF as I believe right now, USF moves the needle zero and SMU may have some future potential.

Memphis, Boise State, Colorado State I think are probably in the next round. Maybe SMU, USF, or Utah State. Could even look to an up and coming Coastal Carolina or get North Dakota State to jump up. Or shock us all and do all of that to get to 20 or finally merge with the Pac-12. It would be hilarious if they merged with the Pac-12 and also added all other fringe teams to get to like 36 and take control over the narrative from the SEC.

Would be hilarious, but we appear to be seeing the beginnings of that with the B10, P10, and ACC alliance, which I am sure is more than a scheduling alliance. But when the ACC GOR becomes digestible to break away from, then we may finally see the piece of the puzzle to allow the SEC to break off the NCAA (add in the strongest ACC teams).

BTW, UCF is recognized by the NCAA as 2017 National Champions with Alabama. See below. Not bad for a school started in the late 1960s. But poor ISU....
