The Birds will be really short handed tonight, only throwing 8 players out there for competition.
Keyshawn and Taylor are out with injuries and Milik will be held out of the game as well.

This leaves projected starters as:
Hein (because of previous experience)
Copeland
Gassman (because of previous experience)
Tinsley
Fayne

Bench would be Rey, Chastain, and Jefferson.

The goal today has to be to get Copeland, Rey, Chastain, and Jefferson as much time on the court as possible while keeping everyone healthy.

This game will be much closer than any of us think.

HOOPS SEASON IS BACK!

As with any EX game, the usual keys are:

1. Stay healthy
2. Work out the bugs
3. Win the game. Even though it's only an EX, it's still important to get the new guys a taste of closing out games with a W.

I wonder is Milik is being held out due to disciplinary issues or to allow others more playing time

I would guess Chastain starts given his praise and captain spot.

I could see that too. Just give the Gassman and El Presidente the nod due to experience and general lack of injury history. Im sure everyone plays close to 25 minutes - they don't really have a choice. Chastain will probably play less than that just to be careful with his injury and everything.

That was a very subtle way of saying that. I have not heard this from anywhere else. Do you know why?

No definitive information other than what is above. Today is his birthday and ISU MBB sent a happy birthday tweet so I wouldn't think he is in "bad graces" with the team. It could be in connection with his September arrest, or it could be injury precautionary. I'm not sure, these are just ideas.

Good thing this is an exhibition as that starting line-up, if correct, leaves at lot to be desired. ISU figuratively and literally limping into the start of the hoop season.

We have not even played an exhibition game and many of you are worried about losing! WOW. Yes, if we played our starting five and what is to be presumed the bench they would win by as much as they wanted, that is not the point of this game. It is to get guys work in. I doubt Tinsley and Fayne see much more than 15 minutes. Even with all that the back end of our bench has far superior talent to the team they are playing.

Slow down...winning is not the issue....state of overall readiness/health is the concern with the opening game only a week away. These exhibition games are tune-ups but do serve a purpose and that is why they are played. Would be nice to have the team ready to go at this point and actually tuning up for FGCU. What is going on with Milik? We know why two of the other top 7 players are out by I thought Milik was back on good graces/healthy.

He's never been officially reinstated from his indefinite suspension that I am aware of.

We make fun of D1 teams all the time that lose exhibition games. We don't want to be one of them. Heck we blasted BU about it.
