Yup a 47% shooter suddenly thought the basket was 13’ Instead of 10’. Plus it’s hard to shoot with a hand wrapped around your shooting arm. Yet three officials missed both calls and decided to referee 39 minutes and 40 seconds. Agree with another poster a foul is a foul no matter what the clock says. They get paid to referee 40 minutes

So in OT they are off the hook since it was 40-45 minutes. :D

Just got done watching Loyola beat the Salukis 44 -39(n). ISU can beat either one of these teams.
I think Southern might be the worst team in the valley. Loyola hasn't been nearly the same team since their covid break. Honestly this could be the year s Thursday team wins the valley tourney.

What good to complain about the refs? Well coached teams win games. We don’t. All of this bitching, whinnying and excuses don’t obscure the basic truths:
* ISU had fallen to the bottom of a weak conference.
* ISU mens basketball is not going to regain respectability under Dan Muller.
Dan Muller has to be fired; the sooner the better for the program.
At this point everything else is just noise.
Fire Muller NOW!!!

Complaining about the late no calls has nothing to do with Muller. It’s about the players. They didn’t deserve to lose that way. I, for one, cheer the Birds for the sake of the players, regardless of the coach. I cheered for the Birds when I thought Richardson and Moser—and Donewald—needed to be fired.

Respect your opinion. Deserves have nothing to do with it. It’s win or lose. And I for one am not satisfied with losing.

If you watch the game they shouldn’t have been in that situation. Play some defense earlier in the game and they don’t rely on the refs. Just like the lazy zone yesterday. We aren’t Syracuse.

Quinn, you’ve officiated quite a few games. Do you think these refs swallowed the whistles because they wanted to get the hell out of a hostile Redbird Arena and didn’t want to risk Lewis hitting one of two and sending it to 2OT?

No. They just blew 2 non calls in the last10 seconds of OT that resulted in a home loss. Maybe if College bb is now allowing the NBA European side step and the jump back 3s...they will allow each team to have 1 review each game to give the refs a mulligan.

I could get behind the reviews…maybe. We all worried about NFL allowing PI to be challenged and it hasn’t ruined the game; maybe this could work.

BUT we already had endless out of bounds reviews vs Drake and it dragged out final minutes interminably. My kids were begging to leave when they should have been on the edge of their seats.

Anything would be better than contemplating the what-ifs an hour postgame as the picture of Lewis’ forearm makes the rounds, though…

First step towards revising officiating is to have a computer calling balls and strikes in MLB.

Speeded up by Covid, the bigger tennis tournaments have replaced lineman with the updated Mac Cam. AO was a prime example..ball girls and boys and Chair Umpire. No arguing line calls!

He didn’t say he wasn’t cheering. Don’t be so pious.
