Out of curiosity, I took a look at goredbirds.com. I saw this Dark Mode on ISU FB Twitter and Instagram and thought I would take a look at the official website of ISU Athletics to see how they are promoting Football initiative. The official website for ISU athletics is not doing anything to promote this. The top news feeds as I logged on were for women's golf, women's tennis, volleyball, and soccer. So I guess nothing is going on this week in men's sports. I went to the Football specific news feed and nothing there either. I don't have any information on the new uniforms and helmets and how they came to be and what they are trying to accomplish with the "Dark Mode" promotion. I am guessing it is trying to mirror something like the White Out nights they have a Penn State with a virtual sea of white in the stadium. I am not a marketing guy so this is just my humble opinion but wouldn't it be a good idea to be promoting this "Dark Mode" night against a ranked in-state opponent all damn week long? Maybe some promotional giveaways at the game? Something...anything to generate some excitement and interest? I am not in the Normal area so maybe there is something going on there, probably not. The weather is still on the pretty good side, an in-state opponent is coming to town, the team is rolling out a new uniform and the Birds are 2-1. Seems to me, even without a marketing degree, that you can do something with all that. I guess not! Happy Dark Mode folks!
