Round 1 is Sunday.

Who wins Round 1?

Who goes to the dance first?

MSU is looking very solid the last few weeks. Their defense is consistent. Dana certainly has a strong chance to dance in year 1.

I think Dana wins Sunday and will get to the NCAA before Dan. I hope not, but Dana’s team is playing better D and more controlled.

I do think we are in for some great showdowns in games/years to come.

My opinion: I don't think there will be many showdowns if Dana is making the tournament. If he does, I think he's getting looks from bigger schools who will offer more than MSU will be willing/able to pay to keep him.

We are 2-3 in MVC road games; they are 2-2 in MVC home games. It will be interesting to see what Redbird team and what Bear team shows up.

:text-+1: was thinking the same about Dana. To be frank, i believe if Dan pulls a rabbit out of the hat and makes the tourney and gets a win there too he could be snapped up. look at how fast Lavall Jordan moved up...just takes some wins and a good image (which Muller has the later but needs to break into that ncaa tourney).

I'm not sure Dana is the same type of person as Niko Medved was at Drake, meaning I don't think he would bolt after one year. I think regardless of success he is there at least two more season after this. Maybe three. But at the same time, he cannot control when he gets offers. Dana has two things really working for him; he can really recruit, and he is young. P5/6 will be licking their lips at that if he does have the success we think he will. As far as Sunday's game, Reggie nailed it. We have no idea what to expect. Could have a game like @Drake or could have a game like @Bradley/vs Valpo.

This next game concerns me, since we have not Played MSU yet. And Dana knows us very well. Would really be good to get at least a split on this roadtrip.

Coming into the week I was worried about the game at MSU, not at all about Valpo. After Tuesday's clunker I feel pretty confident the Birds win Sunday, just like they are apt to a letdown after a big win..they are equally likely to bounce back strong the next game.

Just saw over on the MSU forum that any seat in the stadium is $5 for the game on Sunday. Checked their website and sure enough, you could get a seat at center court in row 14 for that price. Should be a good crowd when we play them.

I’ve been telling my friends all Valley season that once MSU and Dana figure out each other they are gonna be tough. It seems that is now happening and I would be willing to bet they will be celebrating Sunday in St. Louis.

As for the game this Sunday I’d be surprised if the Birds lose by less than 20.

Don't they know the value of seat? How dare they try to get people to go to game for a discounted price.

Mike that is not directed at you, but other posters that believe giving away tickets or discounts to get actual fans at the game is blasphemy.

Dana has done a good job in the community there and now has them playing competitive basketball. Should be a fun game on Sunday.

Rico, if you are referring to something I have posted regarding the value of a butt in the seat, you are completely misconstruing my point. You are not even close here. Go back and read that discussion again. It was clearly you that did not appreciate the value of a butt in the seat. It's simply not worth my time, which is at a premium right now, to jump through the hoops to set the record straight.

And, sir. If you want to compare our success, and MSU's success at putting butts in the seats, you may want to review attendance numbers....

Over the last ten years average attendance:
ISU - 6490
MSU - 6181

So it's a difference of 309 fans per game over the last 10 years. That is with Mo State finishing 7, 6, 7, 8, and 4th the last 5 years.

Do you ever grow tired of always being in damage control mode?

Stop with other posters. Enough. Talk about MSU, Dana, Dan whatever this thread is about. Not about each other.

Soooo, Rico. You choose to compare attendance #'s between the Birds and Bears at the last 10 years? Why? You were trying to show up our program by supporting a post about a ticket promo that MSU is doing THIS year. OK, I get the reason for your contorted spin as you sure don't wanna compare a number, this year's attendance, more pertainent to this discussion. And still, even using your own cherrypicked number, we still beat the Bears in attendance. And you did pick going back to a year close to when their new arena opened. Can we go back and compare numbers to when RA opened? You did your best to find something, anything to make us look bad, and you still failed. So it goes. It's sad to me we have a poster going to such lengths to try to embarrass our program.

.500 is really good in your world? Way to embrace mediocrity.

The only reason I said anything at all is because you said, “And, sir. If you want to compare our success, and MSU's success at putting butts in the seats, you may want to review attendance numbers....”

I literally did what you said to do. I didn’t even make judgement on it. We beat them 6 of those 10 years. So yes, we have done better, but it’s not like we have blown them away in attendance.

Rico, Quinnie has asked me to cool it. I respect his request. I got to leave a complete explaination of what I think. So have a nice evening.

GO YOU REDBIRDS.

I think Dana's ceiling is much higher than Muller. Regardless of Sunday's outcome or any near future meetings, I think long term Dana Ford will have more success than Dan.

Recruiting, in-game adjustments and sub patterns will help catapult MSU back into relevancy before he gets snatched up by a P5 someday.

FWIW, I think Yaklich will have a similar trajectory.
