Lots of positives happening with construction. I didn't even know about the new dorm being built because for the longest time they said that nursing was going to get it. I also didn't know about the new Nursing Simulation Center or where they were going to expand for the College of Engineering. It is unfortunate that they only had room for the CoE so far from the Quad.

I heard a rumor that there may be issues with the lead donors for the IPF... Hope this doesn't impact the financials significantly enough to stop progress.

The IPF is progressing but unless you like dirt that has been turned there isn't much to look at right now. It will get finished. We can circle back to this story in the spring. I think we'll have more information about how this transpired at that time.

Sounds like you may have some "dirt" in on this story (no pun intended)

Some photos of the southwest side of the IPF from yesterday. There is a low concrete wall on this side I did not anticipate. It doesn't go all the way around, at least not yet. I'm not sure if the bubble attaches to this wall or if the wall is a barrier on the outside, perhaps to help keep moisture and opossums out. I didn't see this wall in any of the illustrations.

It's more substantial than I would have expected. A hard body building (concrete, metal, brick) needs a deep foundation because it weighs a lot. This is a fabric bubble. It's good to see that the bubble will have a very solid base.
But the bubble will have hard building items (offices, locker rooms, etc.) within it. It will have a hard surface on which to place the turf. It's not just a fabric bubble.

Locker rooms? Offices? I haven't seen those things mentioned in any of the reports. My understanding is that it doesn't even have a bathroom.
It's a 100-yard turf field with an endzone and run off areas.

I don't know about locker rooms and offices (I assume it will at least have locker rooms) but if they are going to let the public use it, it's going to need bathrooms at least.

We're going to have to accept that we are getting exactly what we've been told. The IPF will include a 100-yard turf field with an endzone and run off areas. Period.

There is a plan to incorporate bathrooms at a later time. A separate bathroom trailer will be available in the interim. Bathrooms are also available inside Horton and Kaufman. Both are only a short distance from the IPF.

The bubble is attached to the foundation. That way when the wind blows the bubble doesn't go bye-bye.

I have been in a couple bubble facilities. My sons used to practice in one down here. There is a very solid foundation included to keep the bubble part stable and grounded. Also a foundation for the turf. The ones I have been in did not have anything but the field inside. The locker rooms are a short walk away so that should not be any problem. That is why the bubbles are still pretty expensive. There is a lot more than just the bubble involved. I am sure anything you want can probably be included in the bubble but at a cost. If you are going to do all that you may as well build a real building.
