Retired at 58. 63 now. Kids care about winning. And playing time. And girls. And believe it or not academics. And girls. And food. And coaches, fans, facilities, etc. Oh and girls. And parents read this crap. And when they see a post referring to the program as a dumpster fire........ if they're worth a shit they care about that too.

Still waiting for the list of posts making excuses for the basketball program.

Had some friends live there during the 97-98 school year. Oh man.
I have to say, thinking about all the good times at ISU was a pleasant distraction from the basketball talk.
Everyone on this board is obviously a huge Redbird fan. We all want wins, pride, and a culture.
Some just go about it differently, and that’s ok in my book.
If I’m a parent, or prospective recruit, that’s how I would look at it.
Peace.

They don’t need to read about the program being a “dumpster fire” they can see that with their own eyes! Unless, it’s Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles checking the program- it’s obvious.

Beaufort, I believe. Our deck over looked the beer garden. I remember our address had a 1/2 in it.
Good times.
That sounds like a great place to live. The first Shannigans was on Front St. in Bloomington. It was a great place in the '70s and '80s. Dbird would buy shots of Makers for everyone. The only money I ever saw him spend. My bestest buddy Roy Herrold would clean us out of sloe gin. Frickin lightweight. Bombay can tell you all about it. He was part owner of the corner barstool. I was a bouncer and then a bartender. Great tips!!! Bloomington Federal bought it and made it a parking lot. Damn shame Steve the owner moved on to Normal.

Well . . . then there's really no reason for you to tell them what you see with your eyes . . . thank you for your commitment to keeping each thread from being hijacked.

Awesome!
I don’t know DBird, but I like him.
Steve was the one who rented us the place. I forgot the bartender’s name; 20-ish dude with a ‘stache (maybe Brian?). Used to let us stick around after hours with a few hotties and do shot after shot.
Hell, this is a helluva lot more fun than talking basketball:)
Oh to be twenty again...

Maybe Q needs to add a talking shit forum. You're right, no arguments here. I was only in the new place a couple of times for lunch and a beer with Steve. There was always a girl behind the bar in the afternoon.
DBird's a good guy. Teacher and track XC coach. So's Bombay. Funny as hell. Both bleed Red & White. We all do.

So . . . to sum up . . . some people want to know what happened to Reese, some people don't care what happened to Reese, some people want a thread/forum to discuss things not sports-related (like an Off Topic forum), but nobody knows what happened to Reese. That about sum it up?
If you're sayin' most people don't know jack about the topic of each thread, you are correct sir!!! ;)

I remember the old Shannigan's in downtown Bloomington - spent many nights there in the Summer of 1982 - then on weekends during the 82-83 school year. Also, went down the street to Big Rudy's a time or too. Took classes the Summer of 82 and worked part-time at Kmart.

So you were there when we actually knew how to play basketball. Must have been nice

I used to see Gene & Ferguson at other bars, too. They liked Scotty's on the Eastside. They liked free beers. They earned them, too.
