Sorry if this has already been posted. Chris Reynolds Named to NCAA Division I Basketball Committee. Wonder what ramifications this has to non-P5, MVC, and Illinois State?

Likely no impact at all. The current committee has 5 non-P6 members on it, and I'd say non-P6 teams got a real kick in the sprouts this year...

Didn't the Valley finish something like eighth in terms of conference ranking at the end of the season? If so, it is interesting that the eighth best conference couldn't get its second best team in the NIT. The number of upsets in the lower ranked conference tournaments and the ever-spreading influence of the "Power 5" must have taken their toll.

BOY did St. Mary's ever get screwed this year. Like... SCREWED. A T25 team gets snubbed. I've never seen anything quite like that.

In the past the valley has been strong at the top and weak at the bottom. That means 2 or more teams with decent records and RPI. This year valley was average below LUC but strong at bottom. Doesn’t equate well with NIT selection. Hard to say that any valley team deserves an NIT bid over the last few at large NIT selections. Over the automatics, that’s a different story.

I'd say they penetrated the alfalfa sprouts and delivered a direct combination to the carrot and pods of mid-majors everywhere. 🥕
