The Redbirds return to CEFCU Arena to host the Braves in the return edition of the War on 74.

BU is in a four-way tie for first place in conference at 10-4 (17-8 overall) whereas ISU stands alone at ninth place in conference at 5-9 (10-15 overall).

The Gargoyles are led in scoring and rebounds by Rienk Mast (13.9, 8.0) and assists by Duke Deen (2.8); Malevy Leons (11.8) and Deen (11.2) also average double-digits; the 'birds are led in scoring and co-led in assits by Darius Burford (11.8, 2.2), rebounding by Kendall Lewis (7.0) and co-led in assists by Malachai Poindexter (2.2); Seneca Knight (11.4) and Lewis (10.4) also average in double-digits. Both teams generally go eleven deep on any given night.

According to NET Ranking, Bradley (74) toughest opponent was Arkansas (29, loss), their best win was against Akron (93) and their worst loss was to Murray State (194); Illinois State (256) toughest opponent was Bradley (74, loss), their best win was against Southern Illinois (108) and their worst loss was to Illinois-Chicago (284).

At this point in the season, there are more common opponents than not (although both played and defeated Eastern Michigan and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville); as far as strengths, the Redbirds only advantage is free-throw percentage.

BU won the first match-up at Carver Arena, 79-75 in overtime.

One side-benefit of the outcome being determined early at Belmont was it allowed additional rest for players who have been logging heavy minutes.

Limiting possessions and valuing the basketball will be key. Cannot see counting on a nearly two-to-one advantage on the glass again.

We didn't finish in Peoria. Played well most of the game but let it slip. Boards. FT's. Limit turnovers. Limit fouls. Absolutely winnable game. Go do it.

Wardle said this week on the MVC Coaches' teleconference that one of the big things that threw BU off in the first game was the amount of zone the Birds played. He said he anticipate it or have the team prepared and took responsibility. Now that they'll be expecting it, ISU will likely be required to play some more man, which is a problem since the Birds don't really have anyone that can bang with Mast. I'd say throw all the bigs (Andrews, Kotov, Schmitt, Joe P) and him to put him on the line but he shoots 72% from there.

They shoot 37% from 3 and 46% from 2. So, if we go zone and they get the ball to the paint, the kickout 3 will likely be open. Leons (40%) and Deen (39%), Montgomery (50%) are the three to really keep track of, but they have at least two more dudes that are more than capable. Have to bring the same competitive energy as up in Peoria on the glass.

Let's play spoiler and throw a wrench in their conference title hopes. Regardless what happens tomorrow night, it always Sucks to BU.

So, this is a Red Out game....If memory serves Birds are "0-fer" in these ones....

However, the team did stay in a hotel again...last time they did that at home, they came out and beat SIU.

First 4+ minutes, 0-3 shooting, 3 turnovers, 0 rebounds (and BU has missed 4 shots) . . .

This is pitiful. Too many turnovers, poor shooting, and obviously can’t defend the 3. Glad I didn’t make the drive. .

Well . . . that was something . . . getting beat in every phase of the game . . . thinking Wardle challenged his players' masculinity after we nearly beat them in Peoria.
