Why do we think we only have 1 for next season? Where am I so far off in my chart?

I don't think you are off in your chart, several of the seniors have COVID years that they can use if they would like(the guys @Adunk33 mentioned above). Sandage and Knight are the only for sure guys that won't have eligibility left. With the way college basketball is right now I suspect we will have enough scholarships to cover who we sign. Especially this far out.

Is it me or does it feel like Sissoko and Kotov have both been here for eight years? I guess long, losing seasons can seem to be more years than they actually are.

Kotev could have two years left, right? He's listed as a grad student for some reason but he played 2 years of JUCO, one year at ISU than sat out a year. So if that was a RS year, then he has one more of core four years plus a covid year if he wants it?

Also how is Petrakis playing this year and not sitting out? 2018-19 at Dodge City, 2019-20 and 2020-21 at Kansas St, 2021-22 at Western Carolina and now 2022-23 at ISU. He is is at third D1 school and hasn't sat out one year yet.

Frosh 2018-2019- Dodge City
Soph. 2019-2020- Redshirt @Kansas State
Red. Soph. 2020-2021- Kansas State
Red. Junior 2021-2022- Western Carolina
Red. Senior 2022-2023- ISU
Grad. Senior 2023-2024.......

So if I am correct with this, Petrakis would have an extra year because his year at Kansas State the Redshirt Sophomore year in 2020-2021 didn't really count since it was the covid year when fans weren't allowed.

Not to continue to derail this kid's thread but honestly, Kotov is kind of a mystery to me. He very well could have two years left since one of his Juco years could be a medical redshirt. Then last year he sat out and everyone assumed it was a RS year but I don't believe we ever received confirmation on that. The roster never reflected it.

DaveBird is correct on Petrakis. His RS year at KState was his sit out year that allowed him to play immediately at WCU. He can play this year due to the free COVID transfer rule since he submitted before the made up portal deadline.

Clear as mud, eh? The NCAA simply isn't enforcing the previously required sit outs for transfers. I don't think we'll see that ever comeback to what we believe to be "normal." I'm guess a free transfer is going to be here to stay. I've outlined thoughts on what a good transfer rule would look like in another thread on here at some point that allows one free transfer for all and unlimited transfers if your coach leaves (ex: Fleming transfers to Winthrop because Muller got canned, if Winthrop's coach got fired, he could transfer again and so on). If a player wanted to transfer to a third school, they would be required to sit out 1 full season and be ineligible for games in the 1st semester of their first year. But then again, you put in a rule like that and the NCAA would just continue to give out hardship waivers like candy.

This is very interesting. We can offer Bobby 3 options. Verbal and he can choose to attend this fall or he can do IMG and attend in fall of '23
or he could even come on board this fall and Redshirt, acclimate himself to the program and patiently wait for Seneca Knight to graduate and then have the Wing spot for 4 years.
Don't you think this applies a bit of pressure to Ty Pence to commit?

This is a beautiful thing we got going - when was the last time we were on the Radar of kids from Illinois??

It's like Pedon was clairvoyant by holding back the 13th scholarship. Kind of get the feeling our coach has been around the barn a couple
of times. Pretty sure our prior staff would have chosen another route.........possibly offered a rail thin kid who had the potential to add 60 lbs to his 7'0 frame with unbelievable upside according to his handlers while offering another scholly to his best pal to carry his bags to Normal. Then we'd likely find out our prized recruit didn't meet the minimum std's to play his first year.

Like I say, this is all very interesting. Go Birds!
For the most part, I believe reshirting as a freshman is over. They can just go lower and prove themselves and then go anywhere multiple times penalty free.

I agree, I think wth the most recent NCAA ruling, seeing kids go somewhere and redshirt a year for a non academic or medical reason is a thing of the past.

Set official visits to Drake, Richmond, Rice, and Davidson.
And the message being . . . you state schools didn’t care about me until others recognized what I can do, so ”buh-bye”.

Davidson was his last offer four days ago. Richmond offered two weeks ago. So they “didn’t care” until recently either. Maybe he just wants to go away.
