Too bad. Good size. But could never use it. Probably best for both sides.

Good luck to Rey. He is one of several that have considered transferring. I have a good idea of where Rey is transferring to but cannot disclose that information yet. It's a nice fit for him and will be a good " 2nd chance" . For Rey, he might be thinking it is his 1st chance as from what I have been hearing Rey's direct quote "Dan never gave me a fair shake".
This is the beginning of the shake out folks!!

As I've repeated several times on other threads, he was our FG % leader this year. Over 55% made. And also last year, 59.7% made. Only a sophomore, could have given us two more decent years of inside play, no dumb 3's chucked up. Needed more PT, more skill development, etc. I think there was more there, no one unlocked it. A shame.

Rey is a good kid and played hard. However, he is too slow to play in the Valley. The big kid for Drake beat him down the court. Obviously Dan is recruiting another big.

Wish him the best.

Nice kid, but I also didn’t think he was all that talented. Hope his next stop is more successful.

This begs the question...with his real and/or perceived deficiencies, why was he recruited in the first place? We’ve had too many project “bigs” over the years that don’t pan out ———- Strandmark, Carlwell, and now Rey.

What about Rey made him a project? He wasn't skinny. He didn't have an immense lack of coordination or court sense.

When I read project, I think of a kid who will take a year or two before they even see the floor.

Rey scored 228 points over the course of his first two seasons on campus.

For size and skill set coming in, I'd compare him to Dinma. He scored 24 points in his first 2 seasons, one of which was a redshirt year.

I think this is best for him and the program. He may have had the best shooting percentage but he didnt use that body well. I would disagree that he didnt get a chance to play. He was the starter for a good part of the year. His defense and inability to rebound coupled with marginal offensive skills is why his playing time decreased.

I agree with this. He didn’t have enough length to be a 5 and not enough quickness/versatility to be a 4. Major liability all year on defense.

This is a joke. I’ve been close to the program a long time and following the board nearly as long. This is absolutely absurd. It takes something special to make me login and post but man, you did it. Congrats.

I liked Rey and I think he was given a fair shake. To me he played too soft. Anyone remember that video of him dining in his coach and staying him down? We never saw that same fire. Here relied on the baby hook and that was it. With his lack of quickness and length he needed to embrace the old man YMCA moves. He did represent ISU well though.

THIS is what made him a project. He has potential, but body language and social media always left me feeling like he wasn't coachable.

And let's be honest, he was given a chance. With hands of stone and heavy feet, he was a defensive liability and brought very little offensively.

Best of luck, Rey!

Hope things work out for him. Seemed like a good kid.

Face it, as long as Dan is our HC, we aren’t going to do shit. Thursday night will be ours. Year 9 and counting...
