Too bad. Good size. But could never use it. Probably best for both sides.

As I've repeated several times on other threads, he was our FG % leader this year. Over 55% made. And also last year, 59.7% made. Only a sophomore, could have given us two more decent years of inside play, no dumb 3's chucked up. Needed more PT, more skill development, etc. I think there was more there, no one unlocked it. A shame.

No rebounding. Couldn’t guard. No blocked shots. 6-9 240 teddy bear.

If he averaged 15 ppg ok. But he averaged like 4.

If our guards get beat it’s essentially 2 pts. Zero rim protection.

Just can’t have that in this league. You can’t be in the game.

Is the stick man (Abdou) the starter at the 5 next year? Going to be a lot of three point shots thrown up there without an inside game.

Good luck to Rey. He is one of several that have considered transferring. I have a good idea of where Rey is transferring to but cannot disclose that information yet. It's a nice fit for him and will be a good " 2nd chance" . For Rey, he might be thinking it is his 1st chance as from what I have been hearing Rey's direct quote "Dan never gave me a fair shake".
This is the beginning of the shake out folks!!

How many leave?

I am hearing 1 or 2 more. Wouldn't be stunned at all if Chastain leaves

Unfortunately, I think that many on this board are unrealistic about the ability of ISU or any other mid-major to recruit a high quality big. Realistically, anybody that a mid major gets with size is going to be a project. Dyer was a project, Dinma was a project, Wilkins #2 was project, Threloff was a project, Lynch was a project, David N’Daiye was a project. Some of them seem to be able to contribute better in other programs after a lot of the same things being said about them here-too slow, not a big enough offensive threat. No question that Rey was a project. I hope he gets the opportunity in his next stop, I think he has tools to be a real contributor.

Sounds like the Birds will have a new big that may play more facing the basket, that seems to be more “in the lane” for Current coaching staff. Let’s hope he can play post defense in the MVC.

Reggie Lynch was not a project.

It should not be that hard to recruit a big for a team that does not have an inside game at this time. Players want playing time. Just say, "Hey, you want to play? Own the lane and the spot is yours." That's what my college coach told me... "you'll start from game one if you can keep every else out of the lane." I fouled out a lot, but I did own the lane and started every game.

Me neither, but he can’t exactly stay healthy, so how much is losing Idowu and Chastain really going to hurt this team?

Thought Rey had a lot to offer this team. Sorry to hear this but hope it works out for everybody.

Agree that he had some pretty big flaws, but disappointed that he's leaving. Seems like most on here agree that roster turnover and plugging positions with juco guys is one of our biggest issues, and yet more than a few responding to this with the, "addition by subtraction" or, "best for both parties" mentality. Doesn't make sense to me.

Great teammate, nice guy and had some moments. In my opinion, he was given plenty of chances to show his skill set. I don't believe ISU could win consistently with Rey in the middle even in the MVC.

What did you people expect? We were 1 scholarship over the limit so at least one had to leave. The writing was on the wall when he lost PT. You absolutely cannot cry about how bad the team was then get mad a role player leaves. Dan has 1 year to turn it around.

Nothing devastating about losing a guy with these stats. Step away from the ledge.

Any high major bigs grad transferring that we can pick up a la Barrett Benson from SIU who grad transferred from Northwestern? This would be an immediate impact need that would fill the void.

Seemed liked a good kid, I was hoping for a lot more from him when I first laid eyes upon him but he’s seems a step slow for this level. Best of luck Rey, you played hard and represented the university well and that’s what’s important.
