It’s weird, but it’s been par for the course in the Dan Muller era.

Well, there's "survive" and then there's "survive". Add in the whole "make money on your image" mess - and I think it's a mess - and there'll be college basketball, but it will be a sort of cut throat, what have you done for me lately, play or leave, promises made - promises broken, kind of game. Starting to like DIII more and more. The horses are out of the barn - but rather than let the players be like the coaches, I say put some limits or "concessions" on how coaches can move and what can happen. Easier said than done, I know that. Money wrecking a good thing.

College basketball is being destroyed. They are letting shady parents, handlers, and AAU coaches run everything. These kids are being told to transfer by people that don’t have their best interest at heart.

I’m not against kids being able to transfer, but there is nothing wrong with having them sit a year unless their coach left then you could have a free pass.

This guy is Wolken is one of the worst in the media. He rips the NCAA non stop, but then apparently realized after the Gonzaga-UCLA this is getting destroyed.

I disagree! If you get fed a line from Dan and you get here and see he is a terrible coach...I would leave in a heart beat. Maybe Dan should sit for a year and learn how to coach the game. I don’t blame the kids...I blame the coach and AD! The kids only get four years- not 10!

I kinda agree. It’s a difficult environment for sure, but you can make it appealing.
Unfortunately for us, losing isn’t that appealing...

It would be different if you were being successful and the kids were using you as a stepping stone to Kansas. That’s not the case. You have had two below .500 years...and it looks like you aren’t going to sniff the CBI- why would you stay?

Except ISU isn't the only school having guys transfer out. Try to seperate your Dan hate from what is being discussed. Unless it course you believe Dan is the reason players are transferring from all other schools. Even winning programs have transfers.

I could care less about the other programs. You can tell me who they are and even Indiana State has made the tournament more recently that us. I do believe Dan is the reason. He recruits them doesn’t he? You can make excuses for him all you want. That’s fine! It’s a lot more fun to win!

Then why isn’t Dan bringing in guys that were successful at other schools. The SJSU party was a disaster record wise and Fisher quitting. Boyd never got out of his slump for more than a game or 2. Who is the last successful Transfer we had? Champ Oguchi which was Jank’s doing?

You were the one blaming Dan and the ad. I simply pointed out that there are many other schools having transfers. Over 1200 so far. Rico was taking about how this is destroying college basketball. You bring back to Dan so I assume you are blaming him for the 1200+ in the transfer portal.

Did you read what birdfriend72 was quoting? Good lord. Not every thread has to be about Dan. The dude lives rent free in all your heads. If you want him gone then get together and do a buyout fund. If you don't want to do that then shut up.

Let's hijack every thread and bring it back to Dan; it is not as-i we have another thread dedicated totally to it.

It would be interesting to see which D1 program has had the most transfers in the past 9 years and no coaching changes.

preach GIF by Shalita Grant

I doubt there has been a year since Stallings got here that ISU hasn't had at least one player transfer out. And Dan has had his fair share, but its not just us with that problem. I miss growing up with the same basic starting lineup in pro sports and no internet to consume me.

I really don’t understand how some of you can still defend Dan in every post. 9 years and the program is the worst off it’s been since the Richardson era. The cupboard is empty with nothing on the horizon. Any promising player we’ve had has left. We are left praying Fleming and Washington bail Dan out. Transfers happen at every program and during Covid it makes sense especially if players will get a free transfer going forward. That doesn’t account for the previous 8 years at all. Johnny Hill, Nick Ziesloft, Nick Banyard, McIntosh, Hawkins, Lofton, on and on. It’s been an issue long before the current landscape took hold.

I never understood the SJSU transfers. I think that school was like 3-50 over the two year period when we picked up those dudes.
If you’re gonna try and pull in transfers at least try to get some that have a taste of winning.

We aren't defending Dan. We just don't want every thread to be about him. Why can't you comprehend that?
