Why not get excited and feel a sense of great optimism now? You may not have another chance, so you may as well get wildly hopeful. Worst case scenario, your hopes get dashed. Best case scenario, you ride the wave of joy all of the way to the NCAA tourney.

Yes, this team has been far from awesome this year. So has every other MVC team.
One or two teams will truly improve over the course of their final eight games. Why shouldn't ISU be that team? Physically we are not outmatched by any other MVC team, and we showed better defensive intensity on Saturday than at any time this season. Why not expect them to bring it every night and and get on a roll?

From this point forward, I'm going "total meatball" until they give a me reason to dive back into the pits of despair.

I agree GoRedbirds. We have the most talent in the league, but did not have the most smarts. We are gaining all the time in the smarts category. Now, that we have 8 guys that can score if needed, we are dangerous! We can do this!! Go BIRDS!!!

Our next 4 games are

@Drake ✔
Loyola ✔
Valpo ❌
@MSU

I think these 4 games will be an indicator of what to expect in St Louis (barring major injuries to the birds or other teams). I think if we win

0 - 1 no chance of winning St Louis
2 possible but not probable
3 in the hunt most likely with Loyola. Loyola sweeps and they have to be the favorites
4 the table is set.

I'm pretty sure we don't have the most talent in the league on our roster. Yes, MVC is weak but
we've got MY and then what? You never know if Phil will show and Copeland is hot/cold within each game.
Key's faded. Just have to hope this group makes shots and gives it their all on D - then maybe you win a couple but
how could anyone believe we win 3 in a row in St. Lou? We're just as likely to get smoked on Friday.

I don't know if Key has faded or if he just had a much better season last year than any of us saw coming. This is more like I expected last season

This team is capable of winning the MVC championship. They're also capable of getting blown out on Friday (hopefully not Thursday) by 20 points. Granted the whole conference is weak but so are we. I gave up trying to figure out if the problem is coaching, the talent, their chemistry, etc. Whatever it is, it's just not there again this year. If all goes perfectly we could snap our NCAA drought, but any kind of adversity, and it's 'wait til next year' again.

I have seen athletes put it together the last half of a senior season or during a senior season. I have seen athletes go on a tear for a 3-4 game stretch. It's possible we see Milik or Phil or Key or someone else at his best for 3 games at the Arch. It is POSSIBLE.

Can we win in StL? Yes. Will we win in StL? This team has not shown me yet that they have the ability to win three huge games in a row. I agree that we would go out and win each game by 15. We could also go out and lose night one by 15.

I think you will have 3,000 Redbird fans heading down to StL on Sunday. The question is: can we finally win the big one? We won a big game at home vs Loyola this year. In the past, we beat WSU when they were highly ranked. We've beaten some great teams in the semis. Yet, we normally come out and lay an egg in the championship game, whether the entire game or the 2nd half (big blown lead vs UNI comes to mind). Is this the team that can finally snap us out of a 6-game MVC title game losing streak? I really hope it is!

Regardless of who our 9th player back is, we definitely need the depth coming back from Jefferson or Hein. I think having another guy who can spark us on the offensive end is huge, and that's why I think we need Jefferson as another option.
