This is just plain ugly and embarrassing. This is what a 7 year contract can get you. This is not the redbird basketball that I went to school with, graduated 81. ISU was always competitive. The 80s and 90s were nothing like this. Unfortunately we have gone over one fifth of a century with no NCAA tournament. Hopefully in several years we look back and say, “yep that was the bottom”.

I feel terrible for these kids. Went through the emotions of their coach being fired followed by a hard fought loss to UNI then three tough games in 6 days. I have zero expectations for them over the next week and a half, just hope they can have some fun. I'll be there cheering them on regardless of the results. They seem like some great young men. ISU GO!

Half of these guys will be gone - i expect Sy. Flemming, Lewis, Andrews, Freeman, McChesney, J Johnson and Schmitt back.
Others all gone - we'll bring in 4 solid transfers via portal and juco

I’m leaning toward one who tells me everyone’s name will be in the portal to start.
Some may not find a home that fits.

On the new coach - I’m hoping it’s someone with a great network to SELL unfulfilled P6 players to the corn/soybean fields for playing time and that potential of being the One to bring back the culture of Winning. I’m guessing we get a whole program full of newbies.

I did not say I wasn’t for a birds win. I did not say I would not hope for a victory this game or future ones. I did not say I would not support all athletes who represent our alma mater. You and your cohorts are trying to read too much into my post. Geez….
I didn't mean it as anything negative about you or your fandom. I totally understand it, just saying as to why I watched it last night.

I turned the game off with about 13 minutes left in the second half. I had no idea why the starters were still in down damn near 30 with a very winnable game about 68 hours later. Huge opportunity to save their legs and get a W headed into Arch Madness.

Went and checked out the box score. Jo, Kendall, and Tone all played 30+ minutes. Why? What was there to gain from that? I'm fine leaving Mark out there but the line up the last 10 or so minutes should've been Stadleman, Johnson, Miller, Sissoko, Andrews, and Abdou. If nothing else, give the starters rest and reward these guys for their hard work all season with some significant D1 minutes.

I also saw Liam only played 11. Did he play in the second half? I went to listen to the postgame this morning but wasn't able to due to a weird issue with the "on demand" function, so I didn't hear Jones' postgame comments.

All I want for last two games is two Ws. Beat Indy State Saturday and Thursday and give me one more Birds game to watch Friday in STL.

McChesney looked off last night when he was on the court. Didn’t catch any comments from Jones after.

McChesney line the last 3 games

@ Bradley- 13 minutes, 2 points, 4 fouls

vs. Loyola- 17 minutes, 4 points, 4 fouls

@ SIU- 11 minutes, 2 points, 0 fouls

idk if there is something wrong or going on but his last 3 games have been odd where he just looks lost. Or if everything has just gotten to him.

Brian Jones isn't starting him. Is that because he has more confidence in Schmitt? It's hard to believe Schmitt is a better option than McChesney.

I find that hard to believe as well. The previous 7 games where he did start he was averaging 11.8 ppg and 6.5 rpg. Those are really solid numbers as a 2nd or 3rd scorer. Last 3 games he's just fallen off. Is it confidence? is it emotional distractions? mentally and physically tired? we may not know. Just interesting to look at the numbers from when he was starting after Sy got hurt to really the last 3 games after Dan was dismissed.

Liam has hit the freshman wall. This is the most he has played since HS. His skinny frame has taken a beating. More touches in the post since Sy has been gone means more pounding. Needs to get stronger and hopefully add few pounds. Second coming of Joe Galvin?

Schmitt has no jumper, slow feet, and is uncoordinated. I will take the wall. His hands aren't very strong too.

He’s from Middle-of-Nowhere, Canada. He may have formed one of the strongest bonds with Muller after coming all this way.

Their skill sets as players were also somewhat similar, so perhaps Muller was key to his development more so than he’d be for most players.

Coincidence that he hit the wall when Dan got fired (and Jones took over)?
