Its been a long time since two road wins, its been a long time since FT% has been this good. Its been refreshing to see games before thanksgiving. Its been a while that we've had close games at the end and have been able to pull out the win. Its gonna be a long rough season, but we are making positive changes and Im happy to see those changes.

Establish the culture and identity, learn to play Pedon style and it will come. I was thrilled with 2 road wins this weekend as we have all mentioned the free throw shooting, defense and just playing team basketball that's been a while since we have been able to watch that.

I was nervous after seeing Adunk post about the problems the team had with the transportation problems that the team had to deal with. They fought through adversity and came together as a team and that's something that Pedon said he wanted out of this last road trip. I also think it was good for the team to get away from campus get away from the excitement of a new coach, a new style that we have all been looking forward to. To go on the road, get 2 victories and come together with all the problems that they had to deal with. That is something that we might be able to look back on and something that we can all look back on at the end of the year that could pull this team together and make them a lot stronger and tighter then they already are.

Maybe this has been covered, but how did we end up in a situation where we are playing back to back games against Northwestern St? I don't think I've ever seen this... ever.

General sense is that Pedon put priority on building his roster out for 1 year and scheduling was an after thought. I'm guessing NW State wanted to do a H/H but Pedon maybe didn't want that to expand to next season, because he'll want to take more of a look at the best way to schedule. He talks a lot about being "intentional" about everything he does. Maybe he wants to see how his team can adjust/adapt with controlled variables. Same team, same 'scheme', 5 days a part.

Though it's not the same, back in the 17-18 season, ISU met Tulsa at their MTE in Myrtle Beach and hosted Tulsa 2 weeks later.

We play most MVC teams twice, home and away. Sometimes you play a team in the regular season and again immediately in the tournament. I only see this as good for the team.

I give Pedon a pass for the scheduling this season because of what you mentioned above. I believe this non conference schedule is by far the worst in the modern history of our program. That being said, we don't yet know his scheduling philosophy, whether it will be similar or worse to Jancovich or closer to Dan, with a commitment to getting teams from top conferences on the schedule every year. I would hope that Kyle Brennan would have some type of mandate about non-conference quality. Some coaches have a philosophy of scheduling lesser non conference quality teams to pad their resume in the win/loss column with a declared intention of building confidence. I've found myself casually checking in on these games out of curiosity to see how our new team looks and not in any way because of an excitement about who we are playing. It's the lowest of lows that I can imagine.

But again, 100% pass for Coach Pedon this year. I just hope for the sake of our fan base and the future of our program that it will never, ever look anything like this again.

Side note, I have no idea what was committed regarding Eastern, Western, SIUE and Chicago State. Does anyone know if this was a one year commitment or did we commit to a home and home?

The Chicago St was part of the Muller deal Home and Home. I would imagine Eastern was Home and Home. I doubt they bought us. No clue on the Western and SIUE if they are buys or home and home.

More of this from Burford please. He’s been great late!

He also pointed out how interesting it was that each team was tied with exactly 3 lead changes each at one point in the game. As if it was possible that one team would change the lead more often than another.
good catch

I'm talking to the team about using my bus to Cayman, and not trust the airline

On the coaches show they mentioned Sissoko twisted his ankle in practice before they left so he didn't make the trip. Doubtful for Thursday.

They talked a lot about what a great bonding experience this trip was. Played hide and go seek in the airport...

Ahhhhhhh. The 'ole Knute Rockne hide and go seek pre-game strategy. Not sure if you knew this, but it's undefeated. Legend has it Wooden used it for 3 national championship games.

'Nova in '85, too. They couldn't find Gary McClain for hours because he was higher than a kite. But the old strategy never fails.

I predict we won't pull it out again until MVC championship game.

TCU was missing two starting guards (Miles and Baugh) but nevertheless a great win for that program
