Everybody is seeing the same thing here. Burford must play the PG and be on the floor. Kasubke too needs to be on the floor but not running the offense; but give the young man credit he's the next best we got when Burford gets scolded for Tech's.

Lewis desperately needs help. Joe and Liam are European style and try as they might don't mix it up too well underneath.

I am very grateful for 2 road wins thus far. Anyone who feels past years team would have won these last 2 on the road only need a reminder of our visits to Evansville and Terra Haute last winter. Our boys try hard and seem a bit like grinders though are Handles really need some toughening up - jeez we are weak on the dribble when attempting to run an offensive set.

I liked the foul when Knight missed the 2 important ft's at end - with 3 point lead we sent them to the line. Personally, thought that was good coaching.
Last year they would have lost this game on a 1/2 court shot at the buzzer.

He also pointed out how interesting it was that each team was tied with exactly 3 lead changes each at one point in the game. As if it was possible that one team would change the lead more often than another.

I'll definitely take the road win. My other thoughts:

- We did a better job of moving the offense towards the basket this game. I still think we need more screens and things to free folks up to get layups or pass off to open shooters.

- Lewis has to be MVC player of the week.

-Still liking how we rebound overall, but I agree with other posters that our guards need to crash the boards defensively. We don't run a fastbreak offense at all, so there is no reason for our guards to start running down the floor.

- Burford looked way more comfortable moving towards the bucket, and it was great.

- We still lacked a lot of flow offensively.

Hopefully we can out adjust them and beat them again on Thursday.

Schedule is week, but I’m ok with it (this season). I like what Pedon is doing, but he has an uphill climb.
Just keep winning …that shit can become contagious:)

2019-20 Season
Road Record 1 - 11 (Evansville)
Nuetral 0- 4
2020 - 2021
Road 3 - 9 (Evansville, SIU, and Bradley - back to back games in MVC that year)
Nuetral 1 - 1 (UMass Lowell @ OSU)
2021 - 2022
Road 1 - 11 (Chicago St)
Nuetral 1 - 3 (Ind St at MVC)

Combined 3 years
Road 5 - 31 or 13.8%
Nuetral 2 - 8 or 20%

Getting road wins was one of the keys to turning this program around. I know we didn't beat Kentucky or Kansas, but still it's an improvement.

1st half was as brutal as the announcer and the referees who called everything.
We looked like a BBall team in the 2nd half with a smaller rotation and more minutes by the better players.
Why cannot Sandage stay on his feet? That seems like a reasonably easy concept for a basketball player.
We are winning close games. Yes, that can become contagious.
We finally get rid of Gage Prim and get to play another Prim 2 times. NWS feeds him regularly and they likely win the game.

At this point, the guys approach to winning is far more important to me than if we actually win or not. The first game of the year, it looked like we were pressing and trying not to lose....and we lost. Last night the guys expected to win. You could feel and see it.
They made several mistakes last night, but they often made them into positives by their hustle and sometimes getting the ball right back. The guys don't seem to be getting their feelings hurt as they seem to be buying in to what Coach is selling.

Two years ago with Arch madness beginning in March, we didn't play our first game until November 25th.
This year with Arch madness still beginning in March, we are 2-1 on November 13th.
The point being even though winning helps, it doesn't always mean we are getting better. The approach to winning is far more important with over 100 days until Arch madness.

Will gladly take back-to-back road wins, no matter who the opponent is. Yes, we should be 3-0 but whatever...getting two straight roadies after that disappointing home opener L is a good sign. Also, it's a good thing IMHO to be in tight games down the stretch and learn how to scrape & close them out. Just keep working through the growing pains.

He grew on me as the game went on. Why you ask? Though he made some mistakes he at least talked about the game as it unfolded. I am really tired of watching games where the play by play guy and his color sidekick talk about everything but the game or if it’s about the game it’s some tangent. The kid called the game like a radio broadcaster so you knew who was playing, number of fouls, who made the basket and so on. I found him refreshing. Perfect no but he wasn’t Joe Buck either. Thank God.

I have listened to several division 3 game announcers. The guy last night was better than most, with the exception of the name pronunciations and a few things that came out comically wrong. Having a second person in the booth eliminates the pronunciation issues. If announcing is what this student wants to do, I hope he sticks with it.

There's been a couple comments about the need for more rebounds/inside help. And I don't know that the rotation needs to be any longer.

But Coach also seems to leave our biggest players on the bench, or at least anyone not named Petrakis. Some appearances by Kotov and Andrews, but not much from Schmitt or Sissoko. Gotta believe at least Sissoko of that group would hit the boards and keep his fanny in the paint.

Can't be easy being a coach.

Second half it felt like they wanted to win and had the CONFIDENCE to win. Another road win. Looks like they may figure most things out and have a decent season. It was just a different feel last night than the last few years when you just kept waiting for it to fall apart. I can say it was enjoyable to watch for once.

Didn't get to see it last night. Just watched the replay.

Hot Take: Beauford > Burford. We need him to show up every game. We shoulda stopped play when he got hurt and we went on 4 on 5 a put up a three
.
Enjoyed the announcer. Unfortunately we chose to make Kazooski a drinking game, so I'm not sure how the second half went.

MOST Lite was a good test. Pressed the crap out of us. Another round like that will do us good working on pressure. Lots of motion in their offense What a luxury to have a spot on the bench for a Designated Center Jump guy. Wonder if Prim Lite will beef up over time and be like his brother? He's pretty good already. Enmanuel is a nice national story for them.. His FTs were all long

Lewis is a double double machine!

Knight needs more than 2 shots in 32 minutes

First half Johnson sighting was interesting. Just trying him out I guess 🤷

What is the Sissoko story? He wasn't on the bench. Just as well for this game I guess. Can only imagine making the announcer suffer any more.

We rebound well. We shoot free throws well. When was the last time we had that combo? We guard and switch well. If we can dial in the O we might do alright. Were getting lots of defensive wrinkles thrown at us early.

Yeah the kid announcing was rough but he has the voice for it. Just need to learn names and also the hand signals from the refs.

Burford looked much better. He was able to finish at the rim. It was too bad we were in foul trouble.

Lewis has been a machine. I like him mixing it up down low this year unlike standing out behind the arc last season.

McChesney seemed to gain some confidence as the game went on which is nice to see.

Honestly I didn't think we were going to win this game. With all the travel issues I thought for sure we would play flat. Really proud of the guys. No better way for these guys to gel than going through something like that.

Our free throw shooting has been great so far which is good to see! 56-69 for 81% if my math is right. Comes in handy while we figure our offense out and try to close out games
I generally think 70% team FT shooting is good. 81% is great. Even though it's early in the season it's been many years since Redbird FT shooting has been this good. Hope it continues.
