With all this talk about the 4 - 5 game vs the 3 - 6 game, and how many think the late, late show game is a distinct disadvantage and the 3 seed may be worse than the 4 or 5, I had this idea...

Let the teams choose their seed.

Do a conference call of all the AD's on the last regular season Saturday, after all the regular season games are over. Probably about 5 or 6pm once the standings are completed. Let the teams pick their seeds in order of conference finish.

I would wager many teams finishing 3rd will pick the 4 seed. It might depend on the strength of the teams in a particular season. This would give more value finishing higher.

Now this sounds like fun! Top team opts for #2 seed in order to play in 6 PM slot, while lower seeds then evaluate tip times and likely opponents. Really would only affect 3-4 seeds most likely, since top teams can't predict what lower finishers will choose once they are locked in. The team you want to avoid might just choose the seed that puts you in their crosshairs.

As Recon said, if Brown is down for BU everybody would be lining up to play them. SIU also possibly a wounded duck heading into Arch Madness this year.

D2 GLVC has their tourney this weekend. They flip flop bracket.
2vs 7
3 vs 6 in afternoon
—————————
1vs 8
4 vs 5 in evening

Semis are evening on Saturday instead of afternoon.

It'd be nice to move the semis to later but it won't happen if the mvc still wants to keep playing the championship on CBS.

That has actually been brought up as well. Let the 3-6 play at 2:30PM.

That would probably be the easiest fix and add more incentive teams to finish as high in the standings as possible.
Games #1 and #2 can stay where they are on Thursday night.

Friday:
Game #3-1 seed plays at 12:00
Game #4- 2 seed plays at 2:30
Game #5- 3 seed plays at 6
Game #6 4/5 play at 8:30.

Saturday:
Game #7: (Winner of Game #4 and #5)- 2:30
Game #8: (Winner of Game #3 and #6) - 5:00 p.m. (Most rest for #1 seed, and enough rest from playing the late game the night before)

Sunday:
Game #9: Championship 1 p.m.

One other thing I think the Valley should do is have the lowest remaining seed after Thursday play the #1 seed on Friday. Ex: If Valpo wins at the 10 seed, they play #1 Loyola.

i like it. The only issue might be the attendance hit the the 5/6 session games might create. But the better your seed, the better your time slot should be

If regular season is supposed to reward the better team's with better seeding, then the tournament schedule should reflect that to the greatest extent possible. I endorse this suggestion. Of course the #1 seed could bitch that they have the less scouting time to implement a game plan after the 4/5 game at 8:30. But these teams should know each other by now.

This suggestion would never fly and quite frankly makes little sense. Most would find this thought process immaterial and ineffective. I don't understand, results are objective and shouldn't be argued with conference tournament seeding. Period, end of paragraph.

Thanks for the specific objections, Trey :) I think you have a wonderful future in politics.
