Another Redbird Football season is in the books. After some time to think back over the 2017 season and watch some of the games again we will probably all have some comments heading into spring ball and 2018.
For now...I am wondering what I will do with myself next Saturday without a Redbird game to watch. I will probably watch some FCS playoff games and Notre Dame v Stanford. It will not be the same.
Lots of different opinions on this board. Some I agree with and some I don't. Some of you agree with me and some of you don't. That is what makes the board fun to participate in and the passion of all of you for Redbird Football and Illinois State U in general is truly what binds us all as ISU fans. We all just want the same thing in the end...a big W in the win column for the Birds.
The 2017 Redbird Football team was a roller coaster ride for certain...a true "E" ticket! I was happy, frustrated, angry, disappointed, hopeful, apprehensive, confused and bewildered at times by how the team played and how the coaches coached. No matter the emotions I was hoping for a win somehow, someway and cheered the boys on even when they were hopelessly behind to the dogs of Southern.
A tip of my hat to all members of the board here. If I made any of you mad or offended any of you it was not intentional...well most of the time it was not anyway! I had a bunch of fun and enjoyed the interaction with all my fellow Redbirds this season. I am looking forward to Spring ball already!
Wishes for a happy and safe Thanksgiving to all of you and have a happy holiday season!

As long as this university still invests in the program, and we have a high-character coach and program.....I will support the football team, through thick and thin. I don't like mediocre seasons....but I can tolerate them, along with occassional crappy ones as long as we hold onto our character, continue to graduate players at a high level, continue to break GPA records, etc.

Don't get me wrong....I want to win, but more than that, I want to be proud of the program. And I can say that under Spack, I've been very proud to be a Redbird.

As far as you looking for good football to watch next weekend......the Iron Bowl should be outstanding once again...and you heard it here first - the #2Miami Hurricanes are going to go down to the 4-7 Pitt Panthers.

Nice end of the year interview with Coach Spack by The Vidette.

"We're close. That's what's frustrating about it," Spack said. "We're used to winning here and we've been in a national championship game. We've won two Missouri Valley titles in '14 and '15. That's our standard."

 I have mixed emotions about the 'Bama loss, because I think they might end up getting in, anyways. Here's hoping for Wisconsin to beat Ohio State next weekend.
