Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere.

A longer article, but an interesting one. Basically, in order to get rid of late game fouling, the clock would be taken out at the under 4 timeout in college basketball, under 3 to in the pros. Then the refs will set the game winning score as 7 points more than what the winning team currently had. There would still be a shot clock. So for example:

Under 4 timeout

Redbirds: 70
Gargoyles: 3

The game would end when the Redbirds get to 77.

TBT has adopted this and the article includes some pretty cool game endings. Every game would end on a game winning shot.

At the start of the article I didn't like the idea at all. It grew on me towards the end after watching the video clip.

I absolutely hate it. College basketball is not broken, in my eyes, so don't bother trying to fix it. I think all it does is move the intentional fouling up earlier in the game to try to get the gap as close as possible before the under four.

I've always thought if u cant make free throws and handle the ball well enough to put the game away you don't deserve to win.

Why have a game clock at all then? Just do the first team that gets to 75 (or pick a number) first, wins. It will always end on a game winning shot. Not sold at all but interesting to debate.

Cool story. This rule hurt one of the Peoria teams in TBT. Couldn’t close the deal.

This would fundamentally change the entire way a game is played. It wouldn't even be the same game, in the end. Time is an important factor is any clocked sport. If the NFL were just playing games until one team scored 35- similar to Tennis, the entire fabric of the game would be changed.

Fun story, but certainly not worth any consideration outside of a game of 21 at the rec.

I don't know if you guys have watched Big 3 but they have 1 concept that I wouldn't mind seeing adopted because it'd pick up the general pace of the game, especially down the stretch.

Instead of 1 and 1, or 2 shots, for free throws any time a guy is fouled in the act of shooting or after a specific designated # of fouls the player shoots a single free throw. It is worth 2 points if made, miss and it's a live ball.

That's one rule I wouldn't have an issue with adopting simply to pick up the pace instead of watching a parade of free throws down the stretch. At worst you get a parade of single free throws.

How the Hell did the Gargoyles get 3 points?
