I believe we also have Miami OH on the schedule for next year.

I was told Pedon was looking at MTEs in Vegas or Southern Cal but that was back in Nov when I heard that.

Selfishly I would love to see Illinois State in a tournament in Vegas or Southern Cal. Vegas is easy to travel to and there are a handful of tournaments hosted there.

Any team with only 12 wins or less so at least at conference time we have a winner record.

Buy game wishes: any 2 of Iowa, Wisconsin, Purdue, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Marquette, Mizzou, Iowa St, TCU, Vanderbilt, and Arizona St., Indiana, and of course, Illinois. We could do a lot with $150k+ coming into the budget with these two games. As much as I would love Pedon to get Ohio St as a H-H, Holtman is too much on the hot seat for that to happen. I added TCU and ASU due to the concentrations of ISU alums.

Northwestern and DePaul: I would take either a buy game or a home and home. NW probably doesn’t happen after the previous cancellation, but they are more likely to do it vs any of those other teams. Getting in front of our Chicago alums in a winnable game is important.

H/H opportunities: NIU (close), Dayton, FGCU (had a decent crowd there before), Utah St., WKU (close), UW-Milwaukee, UW-GB. The Wisconsin schools help get us in front of more regional recruits. Same if we looked at a Cleveland St, Miami OH, or Ohio

Buy games: WIU, EIU, IPFW, USI, Chicago St. Really any Summit or OVC team works who would take the payout. If we’re going to bring someone in, have it be a school that we aren’t breaking the bank to bring in.

I would be a huge fan of a Vegas tourney although I would love that location for selfish reasons in 2024.

Seems to me the Chicago State contract was for four games (two home/two road). We should be on year four, trekking to the Jones Convocation Center (unless we bought out or postponed it).

Didn't see St. Louis mentioned, that'd be good especially for home and home. Also any MAC school would be a good matchup. Especially for that "midwest recruiting" perspective.

Butler and Cincy for buy games.

I would love for a buy game at Ohio State. I'm sure Coach Pedon and Chase Walker have a lot of family and friends that would like to go see them. Selfishly, most of my family lives in the Columbus area.

I did mention St Louis in my post.

I agree on the MAC schools that have been better than 200 NET consistently (Toledo, Kent State, Akron, Ball State, Ohio)

Last time Cincinnati came to Redbird Arena things didn’t go well for them. I think it was Cronin that said they would not be returning to Redbird Arena again.

I would definitely love a H/H (or Buy game) with Butler and/or St Louis.

I don’t think that we will be playing Northwestern as long as Chris Collins is the coach. Makes it difficult for Doug to choose between rooting for his Redbirds or his Son. I’m pretty sure that played a part in Chris canceling the last scheduled game @ Redbird Arena (Doug Collins Court).

That, and ISU beat them at their place when freshman, Tony Wills came in off the bench and knocked down some clutch free throws to seal the deal.

I think the MVC, A10, MAC, C-USA, Sun Belt, and even the AAC (when Houston/C Florida/Cincinnati leave) should put on a showcase for top teams. I don't think the Mountain West or WCC will participate but grab them if they are willing. The top 2 Net teams from each conference go unto a pool that play each other a at a Nuetral site in February. Imagine 3 games in 2 cities like Nashville, St Louis etc.. Sort of a modern day bracket busters. The teams 3rd in net and below play each other at a home site and then its reciprocated as away game the following year. The midmajors need to work together to to help maximize at large participation. Just spitballing here.

I would like to see at least 1 buy game a year at a Midwest school. Perhaps at Marquette for our Wisconsin pipline .... although they should be super strong next year

I like the idea of participating in tournaments in Vegas, Florida, or SC.

I would like one or 2 H&H with Toledo, Kent St, Dayton, St Louis, VCU, Loyola, Memphis, Wichita, Charleston, W Kentucky, N Kentucky, Oakland, and UW Milwaukee

It was late, and I was trying to think of what Missouri school I was missing. Thank you! Agree on Butler and Cincy. Maybe Butler would be willing to do a 2-1 if we’re willing to take less money. I guess it would depend on what Thad Matta would want to do. I would love to see the Birds in Hinkle.

We did get SLU in a H-H for WBB, so maybe a men’s one is possible. For a while it wasn’t when Porter was there, but he’s long gone. I was surprised it didn’t happen when Jim Crews took over there after Majerus passed away.

I don't know if there are multiple MTEs in Vegas but UE getting in one probably tells me that ISU is not (assuming there is only one).

This is the Las Vegas Holiday Classic. Last year the four participants were:
UC Irvine
Nichols State
New Mexico State
San Diego

The “Continental Tire Main Event” is also in Las Vegas. Last year’s participants are listed in my earlier post in this thread.
