Given how few players stay four years, maybe do it every other year. We have some work to do on capacity being a constraint, since we didn’t quite sell out Horton this year.
Agreed. At most every other. Maybe every 3-4. Who knows how long Horton will hold up though. It’s eventually going to need replaced or torn down.

Agreed with the others. It's an awesome event, aside from the unfortunate stuff stemming from Saturday night, but I feel like it will lose its novelty if we do it annually.

Could they even tear it down though? Not that I ever want that to happen of course, but the west side stands for Hancock are built into it.

Great place, great memories. But it’s first last game, and last last game were ones to forget.

More of a question for future 2024-2025 non-con thread, but after NSU game does ISU try to bring back the Horton game again next year? If so, how many teams will be willing to play in this intense environment? I’m curious to see how sticky any stigma on our program and fan base will be in the coming months.

Given how difficult it already is to book a solid non-con at our level, it’s likely to be even more so finding someone willing to play us at CEFCU/RA next year.

We might have to take more buy games than usual. If we play at NSU, you’d have to believe their crowd will have this game circled on their calendars.
No way, we ever play NSU again, would be my guess.

Definitely not for a long time in my view. To play anytime in the next 2-3 years wouldn't make sense in light of the aftermath generally speaking. To play on their floor could even put players in danger considering the tension and posts that have been made on social media. Maybe in 10+ years, assuming the parties involved are no longer part of the picture for ISU and/or NSU.

Based on Jones claiming there were issues the previous time Norfolk State was at ISU, I'd say that these teams will probably never schedule a game against each other again. Probably best for both universities.

So does anyone remember anything from 2011-12 game? It was a major blowout in December. Jackie Carmichael, Nick Moore team. Only 3,000 in attendance and it was December 18th so basically no students around.

I made that comment before watching Jones' press conference and I agree. I don't think we will ever schedule them again. He said in retrospect, he made a mistake scheduling ISU again.

I also feel like they were part of our ill-conceived World Vision Invitational circa 2009. (Why send our team and fans somewhere tropical when we can bring three low-majors to Normal to hear sneakers squeak in an empty arena over Thanksgiving break?)

But I doubt there were any problems during said event, since, again, no one came.

Right? Who’s getting fired up yelling at players during a 50 pt blowout?

The sports broadcasting archive I am looking at does not list that December 18, 2011 game as being streamed or televised, so it looks like the 3k people in attendance are the only ones who watched it.

I dunno...but we sure gave hell to Nicholls St, Winston-Salem and UCSB over one weekend in that World Vision Invitational a few years prior
