To avoid potentially mucking up any one player's thread, I just wanted to make some comments about recruiting into 2022.

I think 2022 is going to be a tough year for recruiting for everyone. Not only NIL playing a role, but you also have the fallout from the over 1700 transfers from 2021 in addition to the questions surrounding who will utilize their extra year/xfer out. Officially, the Redbirds have no seniors and no scholarships free.

Players who are "academically" Seniors (athletically Juniors), are Chatman and Strong. Just an FYI for anyone who goes and looks at the 2021-22, ISU did not update the year in school the player is. So, Strong and Chatman are still listed as Juniors, Fleming and Washington still listed as freshmen and so on.

Other observations, it appears the staff seems to be targeting more Illinois/Midwestern players than in recent memory. Also, as to be expected, a WHOLE lot of Georgia players. Johnson obviously sees value in the Peach state.

Coach retweeted this, showing his support that Atlanta is a new hotbed for talent.

Don't know if we'll have room for Essegian or could land him if we do, but in the past we've had some good production from a couple of 6'-4" shooting guards from Indiana...........first from Anderson, IN. and then one from Indianapolis. I'm talking about "pure shooters," so I'm not including Rickie Johnson (although Rickie developed a decent outside shot by the time he was a senior) Thank God the transfer portal wasn't a thing back then.
