I read an article on arizona states incoming players and it stated Horne wanted to play there because he had a chance to make the ncaa tournament. For DJ, it seems winning is more important that being the best player on a 10th place mvc team
Possibly more important, if you want to get to the next level, playing in the PAC 12 offers a lot more visibility (i.e. TV time) than playing for a non-P5...and you’re being tested nightly against better competition.

Sorry for interrupting but...
Valpo's Steven Helm is headed to Indiana Institute of Technology
INST's Cooper Neese will be returning as is Kailex Stephens and Cam Bacote is headed to WCU.

When I was in HS I was accidently recruited by the Indiana Institute of Technology for basketball. I'm glad to see their standards have gone up since then.

The thing I keep thinking about with the transfer portal stuff is.....if everyone is just using each other for their own benefit.....and no one has any equity in anything except for themselves.....then why should I care? Why pay attention? Why go to games or even come onto this board?

The excitement over a player joining the program is totally gone. I have no confidence these players will be here in 12 months. They don't feel any sense of loyalty to the program, the university or to its fans. So why should I have any sense of loyalty to the program either?

Why have commitment to something when the program's participants don't commit to it either? Why fall in love with a player when that player is just passing through?

The ISU basketball program has no identity. It has no continuity. It's basically a junior-college program hoping to catch lightning in a bottle. It's a cut-throat game of eating the level just below you to compete or even just to survive.

It's not a brand. It's an empty-stadium-in-waiting.
You know everyone said the portal would be doom and gloom for the MVC, but it’s arguably going to be one of the most anticipated seasons in a long time.

Drake, UNI, Mo State all got better, Bradley has reloaded with a great class, Loyola will be different, but had several great recruiting classes to go with their returners, and even Valpo got good transfers.

It sucks that we’ve become so irrelevant there is nothing to look forward to. It’s not like ISU can’t be good like the top of the MVC, it’s that Muller has run the program into the ground where we can’t fill out a roster or keep any players.

This is why as a head coach you have to be thinking about improving your team every year. As awful as this may sound to some- gone maybe the days of keeping a kid on scholarship because he is a good guy. Because good guys can quickly bolt. I think you have to look at your program and assess yearly.

Not trying to be snarky, but is this a case of “well, I tested the waters and it looks like no one else wants me. May as well go back to ISU”?

I'm thinking Dusan leaving opened minutes that were not previously there. Abdou had committed to Cal State-Fullerton.

It's all a big joke to me. "He committed" to Fullerton but yet he's still here? So he didn't commit to jack shit! I kinda wish he'd just leave and we'd be done with him. Can't believe his heart is really here anymore. V-boy has it correct. It's hard to even care or root for players anymore. Their attitudes are worse than NBA players.

Count me in the group who isn't a fan of him being back. He wanted out, but now wants back in? I'm so over the whole transfer crap.

The average team has lost just shy of 4.5 players to transfer this year. 35% of D1 players entered the portal. The number is slowing down, but still, more an more are entering the portal every day. Hopefully after this weird COVID year, the NCAA doesn't allow immediate eligibility for anyone other than grad transfers and when a HC leaves. To me, "wanting to be closer to home" players should have to sit a year. It really has become a mess. The NCAA has to recognize that there is a problem. The problem, of course, is amplified this year with COVID and immediate eligibility for all.

Based upon what I read here, his heart isn’t the only one that isn’t here anymore.

I have disagreed with Rico on occasions. I have never seen Birdfriend, Hulka, and Timmy disagree with each other. If I didn't know any different...I would think they are the same person. I have met Hulka...and even though we disagree on some things...he is a pretty cool person.
Come to think of it, I've never seen you and Tornado together.

So . . . is it possible that Dan told Abdou his PT would continue to be limited, so he decided to look for more? . . . But with Dusan leaving, Dan may have suggested more minutes were now available to Abdou and he wouldn't have to pack up and move across country? Maybe Abdou didn't really want to leave, but also didn't want to sit.

Hear say...that Dusan was not well liked by some team members. As long as we don't rely on Abdou to start, I have no problem with him coming back. He can produce off the bench. Ideally, we get a space eater in the paint and get lucky late with a HS kid that who has his chair pulled out from under him by a the transfer portal.
