UND joins the Valley, so we get even further from a round robin schedule. We don't play SDSU or YSU next year. Of course, playing big brother in Champaign will be circled in red for most of us. We finish up the season with Dixie St, which begins playing at the FCS level next year. The Trailblazers play @ SDSU the week before we play them.

Sep 4 @ Illinois
Sep 12 vs EIU
Sep 19 Bye
Sep 26 vs USD
Oct 3 @ NDSU
Oct 10 vs SIU
Oct 17 @ UNI
Oct 24 vs WIU
Oct 31 @ ISUb
Nov 7 vs UND
Nov 14 @ MSU
Nov 21 vs Dixie St

At the risk of belaboring the point, we see again why I really don't like the EIU game. It eliminates any possibility of playing other strong FCS programs in the OOC schedule.

Assuming that Dixie is the cupcake on the schedule, I'm not sure what to think about playing them in the finale. Hopefully, it's a tune up prior to the playoffs.

Predictions:

Sep 4 @ Illinois - That's a win.
Sep 12 vs EIU - Nother win.
Sep 19 Bye - Can't lose
Sep 26 vs USD - Big win
Oct 3 @ NDSU - Revenge
Oct 10 vs SIU - In the bank.
Oct 17 @ UNI - Pay Dirt
Oct 24 vs WIU - Takin' care of business
Oct 31 @ ISUb - Victory
Nov 7 vs UND - Triumph
Nov 14 @ MSU - Conquest
Nov 21 vs Dixie St. - Do one proud.

And there you have it.

On paper, that’s a much easier back end of the schedule than in recent years.

Not a fan of the early bye week, but I think we could go on a nice long winning streak at the end of the year.

Playing the patsy late in season is pointless ... idea is to get an easy tune up before heading into MVFC gauntlet. Playing them last is just stupid.

Dixie is a schedule filler qame hopefully a D1 team/win. Better off having a no name team at the end of the season when fans will not show up and having the bigger fan interest games earlier in the year. The MVC should move their scheduling up a bit if possible to get more fans interested. As we know fans our not coming out in Nov to watch FCS football even if it is the playoffs. Might as well have the Dixie game at the end of the year, IMO.

edit....see that we have an open game in September when ISU should be playing football due to good weather and fan interest. Scheduling failure from a business perspective.

I’m sure they’d love to have that date filled.

Was looking around and SDSU has an open date a week earlier than we do. They also play Dixie State.

I'll agree from fan interest standpoint only, that it makes more sense. But all things considered, I still prefer to do that patsy game in first month.
