I’m mostly talking about defense here. Offensively, he’s a stretch 4 type of guy.

I'm still not sure . . .

Are you thinking of a Jon Wilkins comp for him? He’s the last person that big I remember not play the 5 for us.

Wilkins might not be a bad comp. I'm just not sure about his ability to handle the banging underneath. From what little I've seen, seems he's perimeter oriented. Plus his juco coach saying he was playing out of position suggests to me he was playing underneath, and his numbers suffered. Perhaps he's picked up some bulk and strength, and could be a comp with Levi Dyer when he played for Porter (I think Jank kept him underneath).

I guess we'll see when he gets here.

Belcher is following Lorenzo Edwards, St. Joe's grad transfer from Lake Forest.

Yep. ILLST25 posted that on page 1 of the thread.

Can’t say I’d be very excited about this guy, especially for a grad transfer. He mostly played his RS Soph and RS Jr seasons while only getting 17 min and 23 min played per game, respectively. When looking at last season, it appears that he primarily shot 3’s while in the game and was very inefficient doing it at 25%.

If you’re bored out of your mind and interested in what Kotov looks like live, I found some game tape of him as a freshman. Definitely looks like he primarily hovers around the perimeter on offense and is a pick and pop guy. He’s got a lot of length but doesn’t have much strength when in the paint. He also lacks some lateral quickness on defense. This is him just as a freshman, so I’m hoping he has and will continue to add weight and be a bigger threat down low for rebounding and posting up. Defensively, he’s a big body with long arms, and it never hurts to stock up on those guys. He doesn’t match up well with guys that drive to the hoop.

Didn't his juco coach say his numbers suffered because he was asked to do things he was comfortable with? Maybe he prefers the post instead of floating around the perimeter. Or maybe the coach was just being smoke to puff up his guy.

"His percentages were not great (at Palm Beach State)," said McCann. "We think a lot of that was because he was a catch-and-shoot guy at Montverde and we asked him to do a whole lot more at Palm Beach."

This was the quote from the pantagraph article. He’s comfortable at shooting the 3s and that’s what they mainly had him do in high school; it’s the post where he’s the most uncomfortable.

Brandon Johnson 6’8 from Western Michigan. This guy would be like Carmichael. Don’t know if he would look to go P5 or not but Belcher is following.

6-8/220, PF, Western Michigan 15.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg

I put our chance to land this kid right around 0, but it's an intriguing transfer. Some expected him to test the NBA waters. There have been reports that Purdue is "blindsided" by this announcement. This feels like it was driven by desire to win. Blue Blood, likely.

Top 25!!

Wouldn't it be something if he landed at ISU? He would get the chance to put up some numbers. He would really change the outlook for next season.

I didn’t know about the suspensions, but right when I saw this and where he was from, I figured he’d end up at UNI or Drake. Wouldn’t be too surprised to see him at Drake, I’d be pretty surprised if he ended up here though.

Just one man's opinion, but I think Purdue's Harms is a soft, whiny, hot-headed little bitch. He's probably leaving not as much due to "a desire to win", as Adunk33 suggested, but because big-assed Trevion Williams beat him out for the starting 5-spot this year. 7'3, 4.6 rebounds per game.

Now, would he make the Redbirds a better team? I might have to say for sure. But I don't like the guy one bit.

You could definitely be right. I only saw a couple of his games this year. Pure speculation on my part.
