Though it is not over yet, it has been a great effort and weekend by the Birds. Holm mentioned in his interview (in the 3rd?) that playing in these games, against top competition in the country- really helps recruiting.

I don't see this (until the 8th) as Louisville beating us. We beat ourselves with the two fielding errors in the 1st (I think one was scored an error) and the base running error- our catcher getting thrown out at 2nd with 0 outs in the top of the 8th.

I scored 4 or 5 Redbird baseball jerseys at the garage sale last spring. Awesome stuff. That had to be a HUGE money maker for the department. Hopefully they do another one soon.

It is interesting. They were talking earlier in the tournament about how the MVC got 3 teams in the tournament. Said the reason was the league went out and played Power 6 teams on the road and won games. In doing that even the bad teams didn't have RPI's that killed the good teams. Would be nice if Doug Elgin was listening for the basketball side of things.

dang, that looked too close to take, but maybe distracted by the runner trying to throw off the pitcher, that was a good 1/2 inning. Way to take advantage of the miss play.

I thought he was safe live. Still think that. I was excited when they called him out but that was very short lived.

Replay has not been our friend today. We had Louisville caught stealing third and they reversed it even though none of the angles they showed on TV were inconclusive to call him safe. That one was much more obvious.

Great play by Butler there. Great season for the Redbirds! Very exciting post season. Looking forward to next year! One of the announcers said our pitcher would have to field his position, and that is exactly what it came down to. I'm hoping Louisville destroys every team they plan en rout to a College World Series to make the Birds look good for being competitive with them.

Thanks to Steve Holm, his staff and all the players for a memorable ride! It didn't end the way we wanted, but it was great to see this program compete at a high level against one of the elite programs in the country. What a run!

I doubt they could have turned two, but would have been interesting if Butler fields that one clean if they could have gotten the runner at first. I don't think they get more than one.

No way they would have turned two. Had Butler tried, Louisville would have been celebrating a batter earlier.

I think he means the 5-2-3 DP not the 5-4-3 DP. You had to get the lead no matter what. But it would have been interesting to see a full field replay, see how far down the line he was, it was a Right Handed batter so that's an extra step.

Good showing should help recruiting. Dead horse...indoor facility would help being more prepared for those early non con games down south.

I always want a championship....or a loss with dignity. I got one of my choices!

Not a great fan of watching baseball on TV...but WOW!! Loved watching the Birds.
