The "offers" some of the Nation kids get make me scratch my head. Though in Sunelik's case I do believe he has an offer, or at least serious interest, from Georgetown since he took an official visit. But when you look at Abdou's recruitment, I believe it was said Georgetown "reached out" about Abdou the day before he was making his decision. I find it doubtful they reached out for the first time and offered all within a few hours.

There is kind of a "usual" teams that recruit kids from the Nation. Illinois State, Wichita State, Ole Miss, McNeese State, and now Georgetown come up pretty consistently in connection with their players. I hope Abdou is a phenomenal player and this creates a pipeline. But I also think Mike Woodburry has turned off a lot of folks from even considering Nation players, which may allow ISU to steal a player or two.

I wonder how much the Mike Woodbury situation has affected some of these kids recruiting. Really wonder how many offers he really has. It is tough to trust anything Woodbury tweets.

The Nation's twitter feed has been pretty quiet the last month or so.

Sunelik will be headed to Mineral Area (JUCO) in Missouri if he is not a late addition to someone's 2019 class. It looks like he is already fielding offers for 2020.

Side note: looks like The Nation is no more.

I'm guessing Muller cooled on the three Nation kids he offered after the Abdou process played out. Also, Duhon was the most common Redbird coach that would take visits to The Nation.

“if he is not a late addition to someone’s 2019 class”? ... this situation screams non-academic qualifier

Don't mean to derail this thread, but this seemed like the best place to post this.

I hate to do this on this poor student's thread, but Mike Woodbury is a piece of garbage. I hate that he was in the announcement video of David.

He’s transferring from Arkansas State and has been given a waiver to be immediately eligible.

Interesting. Why is he needing released from Arkansas State if he played JuCo last year at Northwestern Florida State? Did he commit to ASU (as you mentioned above on 9/29/19) for his sophomore season even before starting his freshman season at NWFS which would be weird because why not just redshirt at ASU and learn the system so you're better prepared and still have four years of eligibility? That's a headscratcher.

He signed a letter of intent with Arkansas State a few months ago, that is why he needs their release. Which he got. He has 4 years left to play 3.

What I don't understand is why commit to a college then burn a year of eligibility instead of redshirting and getting all 4 years while getting to know the system in practice? Very weird. Also, if he was never with the program he shouldn't need a waiver to play immediately because JuCo's don't need one. People sign NLI's all the time and decide to change their mind and don't need a waiver just a release from their NRI. This story makes no sense. Something doesn't add up.

Doesnt answer any of the lingering questions. Seems very odd. I'd steer clear of this guy due to the weirdness surrounding the situation. Were not getting the whole story. You should just need a release of NLI not need an immediately eligible waiver for a college you never attended (he should have just finished with NWFS within the last two weeks). Even if there are online summer classes during the pandemic they haven't even started yet so he definitely hadn't started at ASU yet.
