I have heard from a reliable source that Trace will not be going to college, but is in training to earn a spot overseas and possibly tryout for the draft in a year or 2.

Does he know there are no tryouts for the draft?

Actually, there are. After declaring for the draft, players workout with teams prior to the draft.

You are the only one with correct info. Can't understand the negativity from others.

Some kids are not cut out for college studies and nothing wrong with those that don't pretend they are student athletes when they really are athletes only. College hoops (sports) would be better off if there were less student athlete pretenders, IMO.

Now, on the other hand, thinking one can make the NBA after graduating from high school is pretending as well. Playing professionally (non-NBA) might be doable?

Since 1995 There have been 44 high school draftees in the NBA Draft

EXACTLY...very very very difficult/unlikely even for the high profile players. Best of luck to him and I hope that he has a back up plan if it does not work out.

You are referring to team workouts. I get that.

Couldn't agree more. The one and done stuff is really a joke. It makes a mockery out of the term student/athlete.
I had a feeling it was going to go this way for this kid. I hope there's someone in his life who will help him save his money instead of helping him spend it.

Just was looking at our Verbal Commits page and it looks like Trace re-classified as a class of 2018 and is at a Mount Zion Prep. Apparently he took an unofficial to Maryland recently. Definitely Lofton 2.0

I thought he had already reclassified from 2016 to 2017.

Maybe reclassified is the wrong word. I'm thinking this is like when Hawkins went to...was it Dunbar?? But even then... But yes, this is his second prep school.

I guess Mount Zion Prep is a pro team overseas?

I think it would be hard to classify them as a true prep school.

http://mtzionprep.com/

They're definitely a basketball "school."

Good luck to him! If he's still someone we're interested in, hopefully he qualifies.
