AEG & FOX SPORTS LAUNCH THE COLLEGE BASKETBALL CROWN: A REIMAGINED POSTSEASON COLLEGE HOOPS TOURNAMENT

Well, the NIT (NCAA) held them off for a year. Only guaranteed bids are for the best two non-dancers in Big East, Big Ten and Big XII (sorry Atlantic Coast and Southeastern, you will have to "earn" your bids)...

    Post-Season Bids

Pretty altruistic of the current president to place blame on those in-charge FORTY-FIVE YEARS AGO, and now desperately asking for NIL contributions at the eleventh hour. One would tend to think any coach, as a condition of staying, would want increased funding for staff in addition to more NIL...

Flashback to "those" (exactly forty) years. First "Big Dance" win (and we were even the better seed).

The Vidette: A detailed look at Ryan Pedon's approach to the offseason for ISU men's basketball

Devil's advocate: perhaps (?) HCRP is using this approach as a differentiating factor when compared to other programs (let's face it, we are not currently swimming in NIL or prestige). Preach and practice team, stability and "family". I have no issue with that (in theory), but he is banking...

    2024 NCAA Tournament

And Bilas felt Pittsburgh got slighted (last year it was Clemson, both ACC schools (the same conference Bilas' played in with Duke)).

    Post-Season Bids

and here Bilas has been expounding on how Pitt got short-changed (last year was Clemson, both ACC schools (as is his alma-mater)). If Virginia is indicative of the conference, then no.

I think a football buy game and H/H basketball series with Air Force would be alright. Getting the 'birds (and fans) back out to Colorado would be nice.

Looking for the dents and dings (minus the conference name)

    Post-Season Bids

There was a time when an overall 19-14 would have been reflective of a lot of dents and dings; these days it can get certain ones an at-large nine seed (Michigan State).

    Post-Season Bids

Last year ... High Point and Quinnipiac would be in the NIT (as regular season champions) instead of playing to play the CBI Arkansas-Little Rock, California-Irvine, Central Connecticut State, Eastern Washington, Sam Houston State and Toledo would be in the NIT (as regular season champions)...

    Post-Season Bids

BYU and UCF have now blocked our numbers. They moved on up ... to that deluxe apartment in the sky. Having said that, I would like to see us go after some AAC, A10, MWC and WCC schools. At least some potential games amongst our (theoretical) conference peers.

    Mullins out at SIU

And then the fan base will complain when they need to jettison him due to lack of performance and the buyout is an albatross. Seem familiar?

    Harouna Sissoko

He was a latter day HCDM prototype - athletic but not necessarily basketball savvy (at leas for the D-I level). Had Dan still been at the helm he may have had more development and opportunities, but he did not appear to be the type of project that HCRP wants to take on. Wishing him the best...

    Post-Season Bids

With a resume like that, if they were in a P6 conference they would be dancing with the grown-ups. Listen and you can almost hear the committee members spin on the inclusion of the Cougars.

    Post-Season Bids

Considering the CBI could not land sixteen teams, I am pretty sure any MVC had been afforded the opportunity (if they wanted to afford it). But hey, Chicago State is third-level dancing!

    2024 NCAA Tournament

The fallout from guaranteeing two spots to the P6 conferences and some of their members deciding the NIT is not worthy of them. If a school declines, it should not be a trickle down until one accepts. Awful!

    Post-Season Bids

Is Big East one of the conference guaranteed two NIT bids; and (if so) would the conference still be guaranteed two since St. John's said "thanks, but no thanks"?

    Porter to DePaul?

I tend to think the mentor-mentee relationship will keep that from happening, but if it does my money is on a DePaul buy game (to throw some program coin Pedon's way).
