We shot 4-16 from three in that game. And foster and lewis combined for 25 points and 25 rebounds. Not sure that game is the example of our current roster construction.
How often did we play Johnny at point last year?
And who are you to say I want this team to suck. I basically pointed out we have banks, lieb, luke and davis still on this roster and do not feel other valley teams would take them if they transferred. We have lost foster and with what we...
Explain how lieb is a shot blocker other than basing that statement off the fact he is 7’1? And he will be a backup? This roster is pretty thin inside at the moment.
And how do you know banks is a backup point guard next year? He played 30 minutes a game this year. What point guard have we...
Do we think teams in the valley with roster turnover would take banks, Lieb, Luke or Davis if they hit the portal may 1st or after? Probably not. But they are looking like core players on our team next year. That’s a problem. And the bar is so low for Pedon, that making the top 4 is a...
To me it doesn’t seem like Pedon has a short leash because he isn’t building a program or coaching with any sense of urgency. We basically have a roster of guys we hope get significantly better in their 4th and 5th years playing college basketball. And that Johnny and Chase become all mvc...
Doug,
If Ryan Pedon had a point guard or big in the portal that he thought could immediately make an impact, would it bother you if he told banks and lieb to go find employment elsewhere for next year? I like Reeves and Horne and wish them well, but don’t want Banks and Lieb anywhere near the...
Year 3 is pretty critical for Pedon and staff. If Martin, McCollom, and the new Indiana State coach are able to reload their rosters and be competitive in Year 1 while we are still a middle to lower of Valley team, then I am not sure we got the right guy.
If he was your point guard, we would have made that switch this year when the offense couldn’t do a thing.
Pedon needs to get a point guard. If he doesn’t, get used to a lot of crap offense with his security blanket in Banks. And get ready for another Thursday at the MVC appearance. This...
Yep. I think that’s where he is most effective. A lot of college teams play 3 guard offenses. I say all of that hoping we upgrade point guard and bring in another guard/wing.
Was our problem really Burford not being an effective outside shooter or Johnny going off at Indiana state and Pedon realizing banks needed to give up the ball more and not putting us in garbage late shot clock scenarios?
I don’t know if the 4-5th year guys we got aren’t putting in the work. Maybe their ceiling is what it is, but it’s going to lead to isu being a middle of the pack Valley team.
And Reeves is a totally different player than the 4th-5th year guys on our roster. 20 point per game scorer in the...
You can’t have a Sissoko situation next year with players where the guy wants to be here and just takes up a bench spot, but is never in the coaching staffs considerations to get playing time.
You also can’t just roll out basically the same roster as last year with some freshmen additions and...
I’m not sure about that. I think the Sissoko meeting was a no brainer on not wanting to waste a roster spot on someone who was never going to contribute. Or maybe Sissoko didn’t even need a meeting and saw the writing on the wall.
Dayton is the comparison I would use to crack the current code. Best win was against a bubble team that didn’t make the tournament in St John’s which was in a non conference tournament. Close loss to Northwestern on the road and then beat decent but never in the tournament teams in Cincy and...
I like a point guard that can drive make a quick decision and has awareness of the shot clock. Not one that drives in too far with no idea on what to do, dribbles sideline to sideline and then basically leaves us with no good shot.
You sure about that? If Indiana state finished third in the Valley and got bounced in the quarterfinals like Dayton did in their conference tournament, would they still get in if they had the #9 non conference schedule?
I just don’t think Dayton did enough in conference to be an at large...
Dayton is another team that I have no clue why they are solidly in as an at large. Their metrics are good, but their best win is against St. John’s, a bubble team. And they didn’t win their conference regular season and were knocked out in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.
Is having a 7 footer really going to help in practice when the top 4 teams in the Valley’s strengths are at the guard position? I get that all might change next year if Schwartz and DeVries leave.
Makes no sense to keep him around as a practice player. Lieb was completely useless once we got...
