I think John Ridgeway may be the most under appreciated Redbird in recent years. Dude was an absolute tank and often did the work of 2 people in the trenches. I'm glad he is apparently making his way to be an every week NFL player.
James O is a better fit for the Bears offense, but they seem to be running very few multiple TE sets and Kmet is really starting to show what he can do. With Irv Smith down, they are one injury away from only carrying a single TE on the Vikings and as they will probably clinch the division in 2...
I think 1/3rd is actually conservative. We have, what? 56 scholarships? I don't think it is outside the realm of possibility that 20-25 bail. With the new transfer rules, players can leave at any time for almost any reason. Hell, even if Spack stays, you'll likely see 4-5 hit the portal...
LETS SAY, for argument's sake, that you let Spack go and 1/3rd of the roster transfers out.
How many seasons of 4 or less wins do you give the next guy before you are calling for HIS head? Because it will be at LEAST 2 (I argue, probably 4) before there is a winning season.
What... um... do you think is going to happen to ISU if you fire Brock Spack in the middle of what will be a winning season?
The first thing you are going to get is 20-25 players hitting the transfer portal immediately- most of them on the defensive side of the ball.
The second thing will...
I think there will be a lot of alumni at this game. I believe they will not be as loud as they were back in the day, but I am confident it will be louder than a game at RBA, especially a non-con game.
I hope it is a success so the school may make it an annual thing.
This is about exactly how I thought this game would go. NDSU is still NDSU and will likely be in the final 4 for the national championship again. ISU isn't there, but it wasn't a blowout. It got away from us as the end, but ISU held their own for the majority of the game.
ISU's arrow is...
The fact that he was traded for a 6th round pick tells me that the GM wasn't playing hardball and needs to get his 2021 first round pick touches before everyone labels him a bust and points at the front office.
That said, the Jets are now 5-2 and JRob has a chance to play in the biggest market...
This will be a learning year to
A- learn what the roster can and can't do
B- learn how Coach develops his team
I honestly don't care if we win 8 total games this season as long as the team is better in March than they were in November. I'd like to see growth and progress in-season.
I'm interested to hear what you guys expect out of our football program.
Do you expect North Dakota State levels of winning? Multiple national titles and such coming to Normal? That won't happen because, unlike NDST, we are not one of 3 college football programs within 700 miles. We have to...
