How does a team that lost in their conference tournament semifinals get a #1 seed????

Two things are readily apparent; 1) Indiana State’s omission confirms that the Valley has no respect and the selection committee is woefully biased and 2) the only Valley entry in indeterminable future years will be the winner of the Valley tournament. I am convinced that mid majors should have their own national tournament. The occasional upsets and Cinderella teams do not outweigh the reality of 19-14 P5 teams bring selected year after year.

NCAA
NIT (No one watches)
Mid Major Tournament (Just go play D2)
Michigan State gets in at 19-14 and who did they beat head to head??
If Indiana State takes care of ISU and SIU, they get in. Maybe if they just take care of ISU.

I believe this is coming as soon as current tv contract is done. The power 2, 3 or 4 will make there own tournament and exclude the ncaa. Then you probably have a ncaa division 1aa tournament probably only being conference tournament winners. And, way less money per year

It’s sad to say but let Drake go ahead and win some games in the tourney. Think it’s hard now to schedule? Move the clock forward and let’s see what happen. The lack of respect is very apparent.

All of the moaning over the MW seeds is annoying. It's a mid major conference that got 6 teams in. Truly miraculous scenario. None of the teams separated themselves from the others during the conference season which is one of many reasons why they are mostly 10/11 seeds. You'd think they were the B1G or Big 12 the way they are complaining.

If memory serves, the Valley now holds the records for highest RPI in a season to not get an invitation to the NCAA tournament when RPI was "the standard" (Southwest Missouri State) and the highest NET rating to not get an invitation to the NCAA tournament when NET is "the standard" (Indiana State). Interesting that teams from the same "mid-major" conference would be snubbed in each era of application of such "neutral" ratings while teams with inferior ratings from "power" conferences received at-large bids.

Indiana State lost to Michigan State - that was a small part of the consideration.

Yes, it sucks. The Valley gets NO respect - rename ourselves as the Rodney Dangerfield Conference. However, a lot of people only view the Valley as the Big Ten Development League - point to all of the transfers from Valley teams to the Big 10.

Seems the MWC has cracked the current code. Those 6 teams are all in the top 38 NET ranking, which enabled them all to get Q1 and Q2 wins. But those wins were against each other, so it’s not a great surprise they got lower seeds.

How many Valley teams in the top 38? One. And that one got beat in the Arch, which created 1 of the 5 bid stealers that bumped teams off the bubble. That one team won ONE Q1 game. Drake had 4 Q1 wins. The Valley only had 8 Q1 wins total.

The committee chairman said Indiana St was in the tournament yesterday. When 4 bids were stolen last night, they had to stay up until 2am to remove 4 teams they previously agreed were in and Indiana St was 3rd among those 4.

He also said the last 3 years had an average of 0.67 bid thieves. This year had 5.

Drake and Bradley beat the top two MWC teams during the regular season I believe too.

Can already tell that the NIT is completely ruined. We got a 16-17 Xavier team in the tournament.
