Hank Williams Jr should sing this from 6 pm to kick off on Thursday. Heavy rotation.

And in case anyone missed this, the Jags list James "J Roc" O' Shaughnessy and James Robinson as starters for game one. Has this happened before? Two Redbirds starting.

Shelby Harris and Davontae Harris are pretty close. Davontae is currently running with the 2's and Shelby the 1's. Too bad Denver and Jacksonville don't play each other this year.

This really goes to show the level of talent the Birds have displayed in the past decade.

Really keep an eye on Davontae. Ed Donatell has forgotten more about DB play than most coaches will ever know. He got to Kyle Fuller. Fuller and Davontae share some similar skillsets.

So, the headline on today's on-line edition of Madison's Wisconsin State Journal says "Football expected to return Oct. 23-24 with 8 game season; would be a stunning reversal of the conference's Aug. 11 decision to shut down football and all fall sports because of concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic" The headline in the print edition says "UW eyes more drastic action; coming flu season threatens to outstrip health care capacity", and continues that more drastic action will follow if quarantines of two dorms don't reduce Covid-19 infections.

So, clearly, money talks and BS walks. AD's and mayors and hospitality folks have convinced the university presidents that football/revenue is needed more than they thought.

Methinks they got this all backwards. Most D-I football programs have the capability to test all their athletes and staff for Covid. That means you have a group of players that have tested negative on the field with another group that has tested negative. The players are safer on the field than they would be at their local grocery store. Game On.
But the FCS is talking about an 8 game winter/spring 2021 schedule followed by a 16 team playoff. That still means 4 playoff games for the two teams in the Championship game - so a possible 12 game season in '21. Then they'll start back in August and play an 11 game regular fall season before a 24 team playoff. The Championship game of that season would be played January 2022, but 4 teams that reach the semi-finals will play at least 3 playoff games in 2021. That's a possible 12 game winter/spring '21 season followed by a possible 14 game summer/fall/winter season in '21. That's a total of 26 actual games in one calendar year. Now North Dakota St. may be the only team to play all 26 but anything over 20 in a calendar year is too much. So a possible 26 games in '21 plus the National Championship game in early '22, and if you're NDSU you also have a 1 game regular season (do you call that a season?) in October '20 against Cent. Ark. Truly bizarre and not in the best interest of student-athletes. Too must exposure to injury and not enough off-season.

You assume both teams are negative.

That's a legit concern. Every good plan is subject to human mismanagement. But remember, if players aren't on the field they're somewhere else. I still contend that they are safer from Covid on the football field than being at an off-campus party or showing up for a Nelk flash mob. Misconduct works both ways and I'd say it thrives more in the uncontrolled environment.

So . . . you're thinking they can bubble the football team (bubble is the only way to prevent COVID from infecting players), meaning no study center, no in person classes, no access to outside medical . . . ALL things brought in with no physical contact between public and players/staff (ALL staff), all staff and players live inside the bubble away from family . . . no fans in stands so no incoming revenue, just revenue share from TV contract.

Money would be the only reason to do this. Is it worth it for an FCS team? Can ISU afford it, seeing as they're not gonna make money?

You aren't going to stop the football team from going to parties or whatever. Sure, may be Trevor Lawerence isn't dumb enough to and throw away his NFL career. But the 3rd string center might be.

It's clear you don't want to understand. I accept your decision.

Yes I was at these games!!! South Dakota punter kicked a ball that caught the wind and went backwards, LOL!!!!
ND State game was harder to sit thru, it was cold blowing rain that turned into Snow.....
Left at halftime because I was soaked all the way down to my underwear. Weather couldn’t make up its mind what it wanted to do. Was a very uncomfortable ride back to Rochester. Took a shower and walked over to Rocket Booster Stadium to catch the Rockets playoff game. Fortunately the weather was much nicer down here in the tropics.

So if there is a spring football season, our opener would likely be Feb 27. That assumes no bye weeks and an 8 game MVFC season with the last conference game the day before the playoff field is selected. Obviously we could see snow any time into April, but most daily highs in the last days of February are above freezing in Normal. You'd want day games for the sun.
