I would have to have Mel correct me. It may have been based on who he was assigned to guard, but it seemed that he tended to give up a decent amount of scoring. Again, that could have been drawing an opponent’s top scorer.

We only had 14 players on the roster last year, so it’s possible we don’t use them all. Looking back 2 years ago, 3/15 players are still here (Wong, Cohen, Veach).

    MVC Conf tourney future sites

When you have say 1k-2k fans for a tournament game, why would you want to play in a 10k+ fan arena. These local venues would love that attendance. StL or other large arenas are not going to be making a push to tie up their arena for a week with the crowds we currently draw. Unless you have $25...

I would 100% agree you could have it here; I’m not sure how great the bball set-up is. Although does it conflict with any IHSA events already in town? (Basketball, wrestling, cheer?)

I wonder if a location closer for Belmont and Murray State was in the works for a year. UE can easily host it. You could argue having it in Peoria; I wouldn’t mind that, even if it was on Bradley’s campus.

Can I say I called Neveah Thomas? If I can ask for one more player to consider: Jayden Marable. IL player, can handle the ball and score. You could run a lot of sets with Wong and Marable on the court together.

I would venture Drew Cole being here is a big reason. He would have recruited her to ACU before coming here. I like that she’s a true post. Wide open minutes for her to take on, and she is someone who can average 30+ minutes.

    Malachi is back

Did I miss your comments about many players from last year who didn’t perform as well as MP but are returning? If your claim is that you meant a description of MP’s game, what is your description of the games of players who didn’t perform as well as him? No need to share it, but just think...

Coffey to Lindenwood. Making the jump much closer to home (than 2.5 hours) was expected. LU has been bad to (Barb Smith-level) dismal since the Covid year, so they have to be excited about a talent normally above the level they would get.

What kids? Unless you have the rare 17-year-old, everyone we’re talking about is a legal adult. They may not always be the wisest people, but it’s not rocket science to understand the current landscape. You sign a contract. If you can’t understand it, don’t sign it until you get a...

    Transfer Portal '23-'24 Offseason

The landscape of college athletics has changed. They can’t have it both ways. I dislike it is where we are at, but these players are the other side of the equation. Likely 95% are because few athletes generate more in revenue than the expenses spent on them. They signed a one year deal. They...

    Transfer Portal '23-'24 Offseason

Considering an FBS roster has 85 scholarships, I’m guessing that this is a good chunk of their recruiting class. If you figure 20 guys graduate/transfer on a regular basis (perhaps 25+ turning over every year going forward), they’ll have room for these guys without cutting anyone. With how the...

Having Wong, Dowell, and Bullman all back would give us a chance no matter who we lost. We’re going to need to bring in another post. We have good FR talent coming in at PG and SG, but a combo guard who can run in both spots would be helpful. I’d be a-ok going after some Valley talent in the...

A letter from AD Beggs on NIL

That seems to be an important question for Beggs, Kabbes, and Brennan White. This dept’s revenue has largely run on student fees, university funds, and MBB-generated revenue.
