I wish Coach Mike Banks all the best. I would like him to stay a Redbird forever but there is a school of thought that you can't fully grow as a FB coach unless you leave the nest at some point and see how other schools approach the game. I have to admit that SDSU has been approaching it very well. Maybe Coach Banks will learn some things and bring that knowledge back home someday.

I get that aspect and agree, but very surprised he stayed FCS and stayed in conference. A lateral move. I thought he would move to the FBS level. So it raises a lot of questions.

Great! The big question is how much is guaranteed money. Yes currently rbs are not valued in the NFL. The Bears let Montgomery go for 6 million a year.

So looks like it is a 4.5m "Base", with 8m "Max" and 1.25m "Min" .. his upside is the 1.75m per year for meeting certain incentives each year.

Congrats to JR ... hope he gets a real shot this time ... after a great start, he got screwed by Urban Meyer first. And then the Jets, who just seemed to not really be interested in giving him a real chance .. which is their choice, but then why did they go after him ... to sign and sit him as insurance policy only ? Based on JRs reaction, they misled him about their interest level .. or maybe JR just didn't ave great options coming off the injury.

Good luck to JR .. Belichick will likely give him a real shot.

Side note, SDSU's stud RB Pierre Strong is also on Pats roster .. got just 10 carries but 100 yards last year .. Go FCS and MVFC !!!

UPDATE: Commanders sign OT Drew Himmelman...again

Drew Himmelman, OT
Height / Weight:
6’9”-6’10” / 315 lbs

Player Overview

Earlier this week, Washington signed tackle Drew Himmelman, who had recently been waived by the Denver Broncos. Last year, Himmelman was Denver’s highest paid UDFA, receiving a $25k signing bonus and $150k in guarantees, and he ended up spending most of last year on the Broncos’ practice squad, but did get called up to play in two games late in the season.

Himmelman was a two-year starter at Illinois State (FCS) at left tackle, winning FCS All-American honors in 2019. Illinois State’s 2020 season was severely disrupted by COVID, and he went undrafted in 2021. Also, of note, Himmelman was a finalist for the so-called “Academic Heisman” during his time in school.

Interesting story in today's Chicago Tribune about the NFL draft, with a part listing guys with Chicago-area connnections who are "draft hopefuls", based on mock drafts from the usual sources.

Zeke is not listed. But Jason Lewan is listed as a potential undrafted free agent at "Edge".

Maybe we'll get a couple guys in the league this year?

Released today.
This sucks .. shoot !!!!!

Per article, 4 possible landing spots are Rams, Chargers, Giants, and Cardinals.

Our boy Justin Fields could use some better pass protection, and they let Montgomery go. So they need someone to pair with promising 3rd year RB Herbert. He's not yet had to endure the bulk of carries. And James is 10 lbs heavier at 219, and plays bigger than that when he runs.

Let's Go Bears ... bring JR home !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
