Rough game but hats off to Jayden Johnson, Nick Stadleman and Schmitt with the rest of the bench. They came in and played hard. I had heard Pedon was concerned about fatigue and it looked that way, where the top 5 or 6 just looked a step slow from 2 OT games and hard fought game with SIU. Time to get over it and move on and bring the effort, hustle and intensity on Wednesday night. Nothing would be great then to knock Bradley out of 1st place and send them back on I-74 with a bad loss.

Thrown in the towel?? He was saving our best lineup for the end!!
Keep getting more guys more experience and confidence with playing time. All we have left this year is beating Bradley and Arch Madness. Let's have the deepest roster we can heading into St Louis.

I didn't expect us to win this game, felt it was a bit of a perfect storm against us with Belmont having lost 2 in a row, lost to us earlier in the year (knowing they'd be hungry for a big turnaround game and to take their frustration out on us at home) and the fact that we've been riding a good wave of momentum the last few weeks that I didn't feel we could sustain without a few setbacks here and there.

Even though Belmont has been taking it to us, I really like our fighting spirit and love that Pedon has been allowing the bench guys to get some playing time. Sometimes your main guys just don't have it in a game and I appreciate Pedon turning to the bench and letting the guys play free and untethered.

There is a lot that I like about the team and I believe we're capable of making a run in St Louis. I also really like our team chemistry and am optimistic about the future of our program.
Peaceful Warrior.

I enjoy your optimism and more people should follow your lead regarding how to post. Here's the reality for me...which really hasn't changed since December. At best, we're an average team. Now let's break down average. I remember my varsity coach preaching to the defense in pre-game meeting...you cannot sleep on these guys who average 6, 7, 8 pts a game. Some of you guys who average 8 a game have had 16 or 17 pt games. Several of them. Same for your opponent. Don't sleep on 'em.

What's the point? At best, we're average. A few games...we've looked pretty good. A few games...we've looked way below par. Most games, we've looked so-so OK. Would I describe us as, overall, a good team? I would not. Now, can teams sleep on us? NO.

I don't see us winning more than 2 games in StL. Depending on health and 3pt shooting, we might get shut out. On the flip side...if we do get consistently hot from 3 in the tourney, then we certainly increase our odds to go on a roll. But if I were a betting man, I'd place those odds at 8 or 9:1.

Do I love our Redbirds and am I rooting for them like Hulka did when Who Farted (or perhaps Hoof Hearted) won the race at the horse track? YES and damn straight I am.

Yes. Let's collectively, on Wednesday night...team, coaches, band, cheerleaders, fans, admin and ushers...tell PU to go suck it, Trebek-style. My apologies for the curses on Sabbath day.

I recall one of those funny moments albums a friend had in the 70s. There was a horse named Harass.for the race, but it was scratched. So the announcer said to scratch harass. Dan Patch is my horse BTW. Legend.

Team looked off from the start. Poindexter getting two quick fouls put us on our heels.

So, Hulk...you were in your early 20's when you were placing bets on DannyPatch? Man you've see a HEK of a lot of Redbird games. BTW, maybe you can #scratcharass when you're sitting sideline front row and your buddy Higgins comes running by. Although Mrs. Marshall does come to mind...

The Birds will get someone else to put them at 8th.
The only difference between #8 and #9 is the color of their uniforms in STL. #8 and #9 play each other for the opportunity to play #1 on Friday.

He moved on and so should you. Also, we were bad with Reeves and he wouldn’t make this roster that much better. Move on.
I do agree he’s not coming back, and we can all move on.

I’ll really push back on the take that he wouldn’t make this roster that much better. He’s exactly the kind of guy this team needs. They desperately need someone who can go and get a bucket or get to the line when going through one of the common dry spells and another team is stacking up a run. This team doesn’t have someone that can do that with any consistency.

You’re right. Reeves isn’t coming back, but this roster would benefit big time from a guy like him.

Reeves has gone to the line 53 times.

DB has gone 58, Seneca 100, and Klew 96. Luke and Malachi with 47 and 44, respectively. So I would say the one consistent of the team, is the ability to get to the line and hit them when they are there. Maybe Reeves would've helped get the lid off the rim and knock down a 3, but this squad is one of the tops in the country in getting to the line and making them count.

That’s fair. Although different league, different role. He shot 81% with 137 attempts last year in this league. He’s more than just a knock down a 3 type. But yes, this team is good at making their free throws. Always encouraging.

I’ll stand by my belief and pushback on the take he wouldn’t help this team much. A Reeves type player would definitely improve this team.

I think he would definitely help this team. What that exactly mean who knows. Would this team have 6 more wins by now? Oils they be a top half team? How was his defense I’m just asking because I really don’t know. Now if he was a true big or a true point guard these kids rolls would be different and that my friend would make the biggest impact.

Defense was meh. Birds played a decent amount of zone, so he could kind of hide in that at times. He was off the ball and flourished more when it was a 1v1 or spot up situation. I don't know what that says about the player or the previous system he was in.

Antonio is better from 3-point land and is turning the ball over less this season.

Now, here is Burford this season compared to Reeves last season:

------- ------- ----- ------- ---- ----TOTAL--- THREE-POINT -FREE THROW- ----REBOUND---- -- -- -- -- --- --- --- ----

Darius is having a tougher time from 3-point land, and fouls a bit more. The rest of the statistics are actually rather comparable (I do think he can create his own shot, much like Antonio) except he is attempting about one-third less shots in about twenty percent less playing time.

We can get into a lot of discussion regarding supporting cast (Chatman/Fleming Jr/Freeman/Strong vs Kasubke/Knight/Poindexter/Sandage with Lewis/McChesney on each). Not (necessarily) what I was expecting/remembering.

Long way from being good. I am blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other, but I can’t see when this program ever returns as once you are on the bottom, with transfers etc, you can not dig out.

Some moments of good effort over the last couple weeks, but a clear bottom 3 team in MVC.

Antonio Reeves had a big game the other night…
If you don’t have any thing positive to say, better not say anything. Easy to criticize , until we go out there and shoot the ball ourselves, then we will know how hard it will be!

Was on a work trip just into Indiana and drove past a barn that said Home of Dan Patch 1:55. Worked with a guy originally from the area so I emailed him who the hell is that? and quickly found out about the power of Dan. I think its Indiana law to know that in order to get a drivers license.

I'm retired so I do a lot of #scratcharrassing these days
