Former Redbird Dana Ford bring his Bears into CEFCU Arena for their only regular season conference match-up (with the new twenty-game schedule).
Dana has gone 6-3 all-time versus his alma mater (all against Dan Muller), 0-1 with Tennessee State and 6-2 with Missouri State. MSU is 8-8 overall (7-8 versus D-I opponents), 4-2 in conference; ISU is 7-10 overall, 2-4 in conference.
According to NET, the Bears are ranked 120 and the Redbirds are ranked 250; MSU's toughest opponent was at Saint Mary's (8, loss), best win was over Drake (97) and worst loss was to Purdue-Fort Wayne (151) whereas the Redbirds toughest opponent was versus Louisiana State (90, loss), best win was over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (116) and worst loss was at Illinois-Chicago (269).
Chance Moore is the only Bear averaging double-digits (13.0) and former Beacon Donovan Clay is the leading rebounder (6.2). The Bears have been better than their competition at virtually every statistical category except free-throw percentage (59.1%).
The teams have five common opponents (Ball State, Belmont, Evansville, Illinois-Chicago, Northern Iowa). Both team fell to the Cardinals and defeated the Purple Aces; the Bears won over the Flames and Panthers whereas the Redbirds were victorious over the Bruins.
An ideal opportunity to start a win streak. Cannot come out flat, even for a short-period (as we did for the first four minutes in Evansville). The Bears have played a considerably tougher schedule but their wins are mainly from the bottom half of it. Would not feel good about our chances at Great Southern Bank Arena in Springfield, but at home it is a toss-up.
Redbirds 67, Bears 65
