I wonder if DJ regrets going to 11-1 ASU?

Not sure why it was implied he ever would have regretted leaving central Illinois to go live in Arizona and play in the Pac 12. I grew up very close to the ISU campus, went to ISU and will be a lifelong fan of ISU. That being said, looking back on my life, even considering my love and passion for ISU, if I had the opportunity to play in the Pac 12 and live on that incredible campus at Arizona State (or many other Pac 12 schools), I wouldn't hesitate to make that choice and would never have any regrets. On top of that, to play for Bobby Hurley when you're a point guard would be an amazing opportunity to learn from one of the greats in college basketball history. DJ has no lifelong roots to ISU, I wish him and any other kid nothing but the best.

By the way, they are 11-2 as of a few days ago. Ironically, the only game I saw was their last game when they lost to San Francisco 97-60. DJ had 12 in that game, his season average and he's leading the team in scoring this year.

They have 1 good out of conference win, an ass whooping over Michigan. Otherwise, they have an unimpressive non conference slate for a Pac 12 team.

So, you watched a game and they lost? 🤔 I'm sensing a theme. Agree on the benefits he got by moving on.

Definite theme! If my memory serves me correctly, the only games of his I watched last year were losses as well. I live in San Diego now but lived in Scottsdale for about 10 years and went to a number of ASU games, drove by the campus frequently. It's not a college town being in the middle of a large metropolitan area competing for attention with multiple professional sports teams but it is a beautiful place.

Former Redbird updates:

Mark Freeman
(Morehead State) - 28.1 MPG, 13.2 PPG, 3.5 APG, 2.5 RPG, 2.3 TO, 37.4 FG%, 37.3 3P%, 87.9 FT%
  • Having arguably his best season - good scoring output, good averages (except 2P%) and limiting turnovers
Josiah Strong (Colorado State) - 20.6 MPG, 4.4 PPG, 1.6 APG, 2.4 RPG, 0.7 TO, 26.3 FG%, 27.6 3P%, 75 FT%
  • Has really struggled to get anything going. I believe he has gone through two illnesses that have limited him to 7 games played. Strong was one of my favorite players, real tough luck for his final season of eligibility.
Sy Chatman (Buffalo) - Has not played. Still recovering from ACL tear.

Abdou Ndiaye (Seton Hall) - Has not played due to injury. Don't know exactly what is going on.

Antonio Reeves (Kentucky) - 23.8 MPG, 11.8 PPG, 1.4 APG, 2.2 RPG, 1.2 TO, 39.7 FG%, 40.8 3P%, 73.1 FT%
  • Pretty good averages except maybe 2P%. Have heard a lot of criticism from Kentucky fans as the team is not meeting expectations as a whole so far. Don't know if criticism of Reeves is warranted or not.
Elijah Williams (Lewis) - 5 MPG, 0.9 PPG, 0.1 APG, 1.4 RPG, 0.3 TO, 42.9 FG%, 50 FT%

Emon Washington (Morehouse) - appears to no longer be on the roster

Julian Samuels (UW-Platteville) - 14.2 MPG, 4.7 PPG, 1.9 APG, 1.9 RPG, 1 TO, 46 FG%, 33.3 3P%, 52.9 FT%

Dedric Boyd (Tennessee State) - 20.1 MPG, 10.2 PPG, 0.2 APG, 2.1 RPG, 0.8 TO, 43.4 FG%, 37.8 3P%, 85.7 FT%

Howard Fleming Jr. (Winthrop) - 22.1 MPG, 3.7 PPG, 1.7 APG, 3.7 RPG, 1.7 TO, 19.4 FG%, 10 3P%, 71.4 FT%
  • Has only played 7 games on the year but yikes on those shooting percentages. He made big strides offensively last year, hope he gets back on the right track.
DJ Horne (Arizona State) - 29.1 MPG, 12.1 PPG, 2.6 APG, 4.1 RPG, 1.1 TO, 35.8 FG%, 30.4 3P%, 76.2 FT%
  • Having a down year shooting the rock but has improved turnover numbers. Assist to turnover ratio is double his career best.
Dusan Mahorcic (NC State) - 20.7 MPG, 8.7 PPG, 1.2 APG, 6.6 RPG, 1.2 TO, 64.3 FG%, 57.7 FT%
  • Pretty impressive that his efficiency has gone up since leaving ISU and eventually landing in ACC

Strong had a bad case of mono right before the season started, so that slowed him down a lot.

Dusan is out indefinitely with a knee injury. His college career could wind up over, but they have not said his season is over so who knows.

Dan Muller on the call for last night's Drake @ SIU game. First clip shown in the pregame is Tucker Devries scoring against ILST last season. I think Dan did a nice job on the broadcast. Obviously, very knowledgeable about the players in the game and league.

Reeves scored 20 of Kentucky's 52 points in a 52-78 loss to Alabama. Yikes
