It is difficult to win without true point guards. I really like DB and he has done an admirable job at the point. Honestly, I like his fire and his all around game. He doesn't get cheated on defense. During the last NWST game he was mixing it up quite a bit and at one point started walking towards the NWST team huddle prior to a free throw until his teammates redirected him. There was a lot of jawing and pushing/shoving in that game. I really enjoy watching him play and like what he brings to the game. He had 6 rebounds today with 7 going to Knight. Not sure what happened to KLew but he only had 2.

When Pedon came in he basically showed the starters the door except we knew Tone was moving on to greater NIL pastures. Reeves, Strong, Freeman and Fleming could handle the ball pretty well but only Freeman was probably a true point guard. Coach P didn't really replace those ball handlers and now you have LK basically being your backup point guard to DB (who is really a 2 guard) which is going to cause problems. Maybe there wasn't a true point guard available but that has got to be an emphasis. A true point guard and coke machine would be a nice framework to build around.

Turnovers are going to hurt this team win ballgames because they don't have a lot of margin for error -- 19 today; LSU had 18 although it didn't matter when the Redbirds aren't hitting their shots. I think they have the potential to hit the 3 from a lot of players but we haven't seen it all come together yet.

Nice game by Knight coming off the bench. He really settled down and performed very well.

Sandage is starting to come around -- he is streaky and can bomb. He kind of reminds me of Strong a bit with the penchant for the long ball. Would have loved to have had both of those guys this year to spread the floor.

A team/player is not going to play perfect every game but they all want to perform well better than we want to see it. I know they will keep working and moving forward and hopefully will continue to improve.

New coach, new team, new era -- going to take a while but I don't have anything else to do....patience does it for now.

?????

Nobody is calling for Pedon. The team was woefully unprepared today and the first half shows it. Dangerous trend and habits of not playing hard for 40 minutes. All same complaints we had the past 4 years. Pedon has plenty of time, but it’s time to start showing something.

Don’t think any of us expected us to win but it’s hard not to be frustrated seeing Murray State upset Texas AM and other first years guy that have made significant roster changes show more signs of success.
Exactly! I like Pedon...but our lack of an offense is hurting us. I am not blaming it on Pedon- however, he is the coach. I understand it takes time.
So, same offense as Mueller ran.
it’s looks that way.

We were out rebounded by 10. It felt like 20.

This is an interesting LSU team. Some of their top players include former Illinois guard, Adam Miller, as well as a handful of transfers from Murray State in KJ Williams, Justice Hill, and Trae Hannibal. I am sure Kendall Lewis is looking forward to a rematch with KJ after last year.
I bet Lewis hopes he never sees KJ again!

Recruiting needs for next year . . . 2 true bigs ready to play, 1 PG ready to play. Would like the bigs to have at least 2 years eligibility. The PG can be 1 and done or 2 years. I have high hopes for Kinziger at PG, based on what I've seen/heard.

Andrews, Schmitt, and Kotov all really need to be let go. And considering Sissoko has to be the most athletic guy on our team, I'm really disappointed he hasn't progressed at all in his long tenure here, so if he doesn't return I won't be too disappointed.

I don’t know how good or not good Sissoko is but let’s pump the brakes temporarily. He’s been hurt and clearly wasn’t game ready. We may come to the same conclusion in a few weeks, but let’s give him the chance.

This is his 4th year here. Hurt or not this year, he’s had plenty of time to prove something. Maybe he’ll show up by conference season, but I’m not expecting to be pleasantly surprised.

I was giving benefit of doubt because Muller never developed him, Kotov, etc.

There are plenty of examples of guys developing fairly well under Muller, so that excuse doesn’t say much. And it seems that most of the guys who did develop (Reeves, Strong, PLee, Fayne, etc.) showed a strong desire to develop. Kotov’s comments about Muller not caring may—may—say as much about Kotov as it does Muller. My observations on Sissoko is of a kid who relies almost entirely on his athleticism and wants to be a bomber rather than a banger. His BBIQ is low. His attention to detail on the court is minimal. And I say this as someone who saw huge upside on Muller signing him. I saw a potential for a Dinma-like improvement in him. But he doesn’t seem to have shown a willingness to improve.

Unless we see something special I think it’s time to cut bait.

Honest question. Who is the last player to show significant growth under Muller? Reeves biggest jump was his summer away from campus working out for the NBA.
