I dont know for sure either way. Like most, I started as a Nagy fan .. he turned team around quick. But then seems like league figured him out quick, and his handling of Trubisky and offense was just all over the place. But he seemed to let his intellect/smarts close his mind to what was and wasn't working and why. I don't know x's and o's like some here ... but he had success as OC in KC, but being on charge is a whole other level of responsibility .. and he failed miserably, didn't know how or when to adjust .. and finally to my point .. he was very "smart", but the genius mad scientist was ineffective and lost the club house. Now that the controlled scrimmages, practices, and evaluation of players (my terms for all of pre-season football) who will not be there on opening day is over ... we will see what the 2022 Bears look like against opponents when it counts. I hope the ISU representatives make the team and have an impact. The Bears? I expect them to be bad to pitiful once the real games begin. I hope I am wrong...but I doubt it.
New HC seems to be more of no nonsense, stick to the formula, but listen to others as to what works and doesn't work. This alone could turn things around if Field starts to find his dual threat zone, he could be a Russell Wilson type QB. Interesting note, Fields was like #1 in QBR outside the pocket a year ago, but Bears were in lower third of league in designed rollout plays ... like Nagy was trying to outsmart other teams and not to do what defenses expected maybe .. I dunno ??? That climate had to become so stifling to be around .. thinking and acting smarter than everyone else ... but not being smarter.
I can easily see 8-8 level season just based on this alone, better if OL is solid, and things come together.
