I'll add, unless the IHSA adds 8 or 7 man football. Then it might be possible. But 11 man at small schools is getting tough.

8 man is big here in Iowa. The school where my wife taught for 25 years, they went to 8 man last year. I went to 3 of the games and enjoyed it. It's still football just on a smaller field and with less people. 71 schools competed in 8 man last year.

Good for Fisher for doing what's best for those kids. It sure sucks for that senior. I'm guessing the juniors will play JV.
8 man is a good alternative if you want to keep a program alive. It's a fast wide-open game. Kids seem to like it. Once you strap it on its still football. I think we're up to about 10 conferences in Wisconsin. You gotta do what you gotta do.

In Iowa, if your school doesn't offer a sport you may play for another program. My wife taught at a Catholic High School that didn't offer swimming, bowling and soccer. Students that wanted to compete in those sports were able to at the Public High School.

And then there's the co-op thing, which I know happens a lot in hoops, which takes fewer kids, strangely enough. Spose you gotta haul the kids around for practice with a co-op which you wouldn't have to do with 8-man.

We've got quite a few coops here as well and parochial kids swimming and stuff at the publics. It's the adults who seem to have the problem with 8 man not the kids.
