Hey, I hope they stay. Usually, new coaches have recruits that they have the inside beat on. If we can get a coach that is well respected in the Chicago/Midwest circle that could open up a new pipeline. How long has it been since we have been able to get the kids from the midwest, 10 years? Dan has been too busy vacationing in Florida locking in on the 1 star recruits.
Both profiles still indicate their commitment to ISU but we all know these types of situations are fluid.
Takai is apparently making a push for North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year after recently dropping 31 in a game.
Watching UNI yesterday made me think how nice it would be to have some freshman come in and ready to contribute from day 1. It’d be cool for the new coach to bring in someone like Heise at UNI or Devries at Drake.

Always a double edge sword when a guy starts blowing up late. It's great that he has committed here, but when these types start blowing up other schools start snooping around, especially after we let our hc go. The college bball landscape has changed so dramatically and it doesn't favor schools outside the top six conferences.

In this case with them appearing to be a package deal it still might bode well. New coach might not agree at all though.

I believe Illinois has a kid committed from Charlotte who is a 4 star. This guy is going to win player of the year over him?

He’s the one assistant I’d be okay retaining. Wills in his role too.
I agree, I just think the situation is interesting. The first tweet could almost be interpreted as a farewell, "loved connecting with the people here". Like it has been mentioned here, the twins seem like they are still committed to ISU for the time being, but judging off their relationship with Coach Johnson, you could get the feeling that their commitment is contingent on Johnson's status at ISU. No one here would blame them for de-committing, but would love to have them. What I am trying to say is, if Coach Johnson thinks he is gone, then you would think they would know as well. We will know more after 2 weeks, but there is a lot that could be speculated from this.

For all we know we have our coach and he’s building his staff. The first tweet indicating he’s being retained. Or it could be the complete opposite. Going to be an interesting few weeks until coach is named then just as interesting watching the roster.

Not gonna speculate on Johnson's retention . . . just want to state that from what I've seen from his social media, Johnson loves the kids who are a little overlooked but have the desire and work ethic to prove people wrong. Kinda wonder if that's what he sees in the twins.

Okay but Iowa State played there yesterday, IoSU has assistant coach Kyle Green (former UNI long-time assistant) and also coincidently Daniyal Robinson, former Redbird assistant. So, you know, you never know which team the passenger is from!!
Might be Iowa St. and not K State.Just looked and they both still have "Redbird MBB" tags on....? Maybe they read your post and changed it back lol
They do on Twitter but not Instagram, the platform they are more active on.
