COMMITMENT - Collado is a former 3 star OL (6'3" 320 pound) from Crystal Lake, IL. Graduated from Crystal Lake South in 2020. Transfer from Miami (OH). Appeared in 2 games this fall in blowout loss vs Cincinnati and blowout win vs Buffalo. Has 4 years of eligibility remaining.

Looks like a good get. I like the fact that the coaching staff is going after transfer o-lineman, build the offense from the o-line out. Build the o-line then go out and get your quarterback and or receivers. Bonus with this kid is he's already been in college for 2 years and has 4 years of eligibility still.

Check out this article, sounds like a good kid.

South coach Rob Fontana cited a “relentless work ethic” as a major reason for Collado’s success.

“He didn’t care that he was the youngest when he came up as a freshman,” Fontana said. He was going to try and outwork everybody. That’s the mindset he’s had and still has today.”

In a related issue, he was recruited to Miami by offensive line coach George Barnett - former ISU OL coach and OC. Barnett moved on to Iowa for the 2021 season. Interesting coincidence . . . .

The good news - a tall, big Gopher WR enters the portal.
The bad news - he never saw the field after three years in the program.

Seemed highly regarded coming out of HS in Texas. Never worked out for Gophers tho. Worth a chance? Our "big" Notre Dame guy didn't do much last year.

Gophers redshirt sophomore wide receiver Nnamdi Adim-Madumere announced on Twitter that he's entered his name into the transfer portal. The Fort Worth, Texas, native did not see game action in three seasons with the Gophers.

Everyone is worried about Big WR with no separation... Offer kids who are just Driven for the love of the game they are the ones who make teams better like Shannon Reid ! Wonder whats up with this ? Forget the rejected star kids who went to P5 etc that never play a significant down. What makes you think they are going to come to ISU to be a team asset when we are giving them the HOLLYWOOD treatment before they hit the field at ISU. New season every year ! Some increase their value some decrease ! No pampering on pass status !

The spring semester begins Monday and our +/- on the portal is still a -. I was hoping a few more spring additions (QB) would be in place for spring ball. It's not a necessity but it sure would be nice. I thought we would see more pieces in place but right now all our places are in pieces.🧩

I wonder if Coach Spack's surgery and being out for a while has slowed down the action. Nothing to be done about it since health has to be a priority and he has staff in place. Still when the head guy is out things maybe don't move so fast. I don't know but I did expect maybe a little more activity in the portal than we have seen so far.
I did not see any QBs on the early signing list. 5 QBs are on the roster but two of those have entered the Portal (Jefferson & Morris). That leaves the incumbent Waring, Rittenhouse, and Dorsey on the current roster. All three were Freshmen last season and only Waring got playing time. That is a young, young roster even if they get more High School recruits. Maybe they still pick up a QB with a bit more field time but it would have been nice to have him here for the spring.

Well, Spack's surgery and we also have an opening on the offensive coaching staff that may or may not be having an impact. If TE/FB coach Irwin is gonna inherit the OC role all by himself, then that's in place and not much of a factor. If filling Muhammad-Lankford's Co-OC/WR/offensive associate HC position turns into a new OC, or even new co-OC and offensive associate HC (whatever that is!), then maybe the QB is "on hold" until the position gets filled. Still maybe delayed related to Spack's surgery.

I was hoping for a new direction/leadership/experience on offense, filling the vacancy with a proven OC/WR coach. It could/would presumably make ISU a more attractive landing spot for a transfer (which could include a JC transfer I spose). We'll see what happens.

Yep, I agree. The offense was pretty bad last year and there is nothing settled with the offensive coaching staff, at least publicly at the moment. If I was a QB looking for a new home the opportunity to be able to start seems wide open with the young and fairly inexperienced QB room at ISU. At the same time who is going to be your coach, what will the system be are questions they would probably be asking. I think it would have been a good thing to get this settled before Coach Spack's medical leave. Having question marks in these important positions and Coach Spack out recovering does not help convince new talent to land in Normal. I am not expecting a big splash with the OC position myself. I hope I am wrong but I am just not feeling it.

According to Randy Reinhardt on Twitter there is a new QB but nothing is official yet. So I guess there is a guy that ISU and the player hasn't announced yet or waiting to dot the i's and cross the t's on the paper.

Some potential names to keep an eye on:

Jeff Undercuffler Jr. Transfer from UAlbany. Played in three games before an injury sidelined him for the rest of the season. He was preseason all-second team. 2 years of eligibility. Feels most likely.

Braxton Burmeister grad transfer from Virginia Tech. Played as a freshman at Oregon in 2018, transferred to Va Tech in 2019 and sat out as a RS. Started 4 games in 2020 and 12 games in 2021. 14 TD, 4 picks. Grad Xfer, I believe 2 years if he uses COVID year.

Taisun Phommachanh- Clemson kid, unlikely but worth a mention. Casey Thompson Texas transfer, also unlikely.

Darius Bowers- Central Arkansas transfer with three years of eligibility. Played in 4 games in 2021.

Hang in there. I'm feeling very positive about the transfer QB we were expecting.

He was a PWO at Washington State. He is 6'3" and about 270. It looks like he has not seen game action in 3 years with the team. Should have 2 years left + Covid year if he wants it. I don't expect him to be a star by any means, but should be nice depth to have and I hope he finds success. From Sycamore, IL (NIU territory). I always like it when kids choose to go to ISU when transferring back to their home state.

It's always a crap shoot. The kid from Minny didn't help all that much on the DL this year, the Notre Dame WR didn't help all that much, but the two kids from Montana showed pretty well. Ty Deforest was a beast a couple years ago. Simon, Reid, etc. This kid took a chance a long way from home, walked on, didn't do much, now maybe he comes home and shows well. Wonder if we recruited him out HS? Glad to have him.
