Why is anyone surprised? He quit. Covid was his excuse. He never supported the team on social media. Never did anything to give the impression that he gave a shit in any way. Waited until 3 weeks before the season. He quit.
Who cares. He was hyped up and we won 10 games last year. I like the guys we got here actually playing now. I feel like people give him all this credit as a difference maker 3 years ago when he was so inspired in street clothes calling players out for not hustling. And then he suited up....

If you didn’t know Fisher, and recently started reading this site, you would understand that Fisher averaged 56/10/10. In his spare time, he developed the Covid vaccine. All true.

Remember when the ESPN announcers hyped him up his sit-out year as being better than the first team and the leader on the bench? Wow, time flies.

Maybe with a family he wants to play closer to home or thinks some guys hold a grudge that he left the team right b4 the season. Adunk recently said that he did not think he would be back...maybe he has the scoop.

For those that have forgotten, Fisher played the 5 spot in the 4 guard offense almost exclusively last year and basically split time w/Rey. IMO a true 4, he played the entire last season out of position and still, IMO was the best player the Birds had. Always thought he had a bit of an attitude, but why would he, Rey or any other big stick around(or decide to come here) in a system that has de-emphasized the 4/5 position and doesn’t put the player in a position to be successful or get significant playing time. Sorry, but there is absolutely no one on the court right now that brought as much as Fisher in either the 5 or an actual 4 spot last season.

Players leave programs for a wide range of reasons, but primarily because they aren’t getting enough playing time, they feel the system doesn’t work to their skills/strengths or they don’t like the program environment. I know little about the program environment, other than what I’ve seen at games, so I’ll leave it to others to comment on that. The 4G offense system has been woefully ineffective, not always on the offensive end but especially with respect to rebounds, defensive matchups and creating free throws. It is one thing to expect players to defer their personal goals with expectation of team success, it’s another to do so with no expectation of success personally or collectively.

Recruitment and retention of the right players is the staff’s responsibility, as is putting players in a position to be successful. As I said at the end of last season, the system needs to change. That can happen in a number of ways and some are more realistic than others. It is unfortunate that the program leadership apparently didnt recognize the lack of success and need for change last season. Lets hope they do after this one.

I thought it was the opposite. He struggled at the 4 with Rey on the floor with him early in the year and then finished well when Rey wasn’t on the floor as much with him and he was the main big.

I think the guards have potential. But we’re not really that inexperienced now. Horne and Reeves are finishing their 2nd year, Boyd is a 4th year junior, Strong has a year in and is a junior. Only Fleming is rest inexperienced. Watching games like tonight which have been the majority either Dan can’t get them to reach the potential or we overestimated it. Either way it’s depressing. What a mess

Enough of the damn transfers. This dude transfers here, sits a year, plays a year, sits out for CoVid or whatever personal reason it is, and then enters the transfer portal.

A ridiculous waste of a scholarship.

Boyd isn't here next year. He's in Dan's doghouse constantly. He doesn't want to be here and Dan doesn't want him. With the new transfer rule he's out without sitting next season whether he graduates or not. Still 2 years of eligibility. He had such a great freshman year at EKU. I feel sorry for him wasting 3 years here. Covid did him a favor and only made him use 1 year of eligibility here in 3 years. I hope he finds success elsewhere.

Dan didn’t even sound that disappointed on the post game, I mean you can’t read minds so maybe he was. But maybe he’s getting used to losing. If we lose tomorrow, it would be our 1st time going 1-8 at home in conference. So Dan is good at setting records 🙄

He’s disappointed in the parents who showed up and distracted his team apparently.

why should he be mad? His paychecks keep coming regardless. The dude is set for life all for a second round NIT appearance

Did Fisher remain on scholarship this year? If so, was that a NCAA decision or ISU decision?
